Former Miami Hurricane star and 14-year NBA veteran James Jones is the new Executive Vice President and Head of Basketball Operations for the NBA.
Jones moves into his new role at the NBA headquarters after spending the last few seasons as the Phoenix Suns' general manager. This off-season, Jones was demoted from GM to a senior advisor in the organization.
James Jones was a three-time NBA champion as a player, winning the title in 2012 and 2013 with the Miami Heat and in 2016 with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Hialeah, FL native played for the Hurricanes from 1999 through 2003, being a three-year starter for the Canes. Jones was a member of the 2000 Big East conference regular season championship team (1 or 3 in school.)
