FINAL: Florida Hands Miami First Loss Of Season 82-68

The University of Miami men’s basketball team fell to 10th-ranked Florida, 82-68, Sunday night at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.

Florida (3-1) took a 39-29 lead into the break. After Miami (3-1) scored the first basket of the game, the Gators responded with a 9-0 run that forced the Hurricanes to call a timeout. Miami answered and tied the game at 13 before taking an 18-17 lead. Florida regained control and pushed the margin to as many as 11 in the first half, holding the Hurricanes to 35.3% shooting.

Miami came out strong in the second half, cutting the lead to three, 44-41, with 16 minutes remaining behind six points from Tru Washington, a 3-pointer from Dante Allen and a bucket from Shelton Henderson. Florida was able to stretch its advantage, leading by as many as 19.

Malik Reneau led Miami with 22 points and 11 rebounds, marking his second-straight game with a double-double. Washington added 16 points, his fourth game in double figures, and Tre Donaldson added 11 points, six assists and four rebounds.

The Hurricanes return to action Thursday at the Watsco Center as they take on Elon at 7 p.m.

Just couldn't finish in the paint and foul shooting was atrocious. Now this was the best front court in America so have to take it in full context. Positives were 16 ORs to 11 and 10 TOs to 15.
