That's ok.

This is Miami.

We've had lots of walk-ons who have produced:

Carlos Huerta - AA and probably the best kicker ever at Miami.

Santana Moss - no need to elaborate here.

Joaquin Gonzalez - 2-time AA at RT.

Javon Nanton - undersized, but solid DE - maybe during the Shannon years - led the team in sacks 1 year

The FB during the '83 championship game - from Immokalee.

And some others.

If he outplays most of the other WRs, he'll be in the rotation.
Not sure Moss belongs on that list. He came on a track scholarship during sanction era and switched over when he played.

Deion Sanders did say couch was the BEST CB in the All American practices

Im not surprised

IMO he is the most talented CB on the roster

Talent wise...

Wish Boulware would have stayed. That was a huge lose/lose for both him and the program. But I think Traore passes them all up and steps in as our starting guard like Boulware did last season.
His decision to leave early made zero sense. I don't recall reading anything remotely suggesting he would get drafted. I don't think he was even picked up as an UDFA.

It just don't get it. How has Martell earned the right to be #1 on day 1 of Fall camp? He surely didn't do it in the Spring. I'm not buying Manny's interview where he said Tate's Summer workouts have put him in this position. You can't earn anything in Summer workouts. They're not even official (No coaching). Summer workouts are to prepare you for Fall camp where you are to showcase the improvements you made over the Summer. It's pretty clear to me, he wants Martell to be the starting QB. And the entire depth chart for every position was based on Summer workouts? Right?

I just want there to be a real competition and for it to be fare.

Dude, someone literally has to take the 1st snap.

Everybody's going to trip out over Nelson being the starting LT & I get that because he's a TF...

But I may be the only one who feels this way but Herbert is a big time concern for me at RT & yall know I'm the last one to worry... But he's never been good at dealing with speed rushers ever since he was in HS at AH, that was always his weakness.

Not saying he can't or won't improve, just saying everybody will focus on Zion but Herbert IMO is the one we need to see play well & anchor down that RT if he's the starter.

And nah I'm not panicking or overreacting, just simply saying that's something to keep an eye on as one of the question marks for the season.
Agree with you. And I'll go a step further, I AM concerned about Herbert as our potential starting RT. I was shocked to see Scaife at G not tackle. That could be a good thing, as everyone has always felt his ceiling is higher at G and he's playing T out of necessity...so him moving to G could be great if it means other guys are stepping up at T. But we haven't seen any of these guys at T really take a step forward, and Herbert is the one I'd say I've heard the least positives about over the past year.

Throw in that both Stefan and the mod on tos felt like Patchan had a fantastic day ("best player on the field" on tos), and the thought of Herbert starting definitely makes me uneasy.

I'm at a loss on this situation. How can one of Herbert, Hillery, Reed, or Campbell not cut it at either the guard or tackle spot? I mean, Kennedy was second-string guard last night. How is that possible? Anyone criticizing him better have scathing comments about the other guys who have zero excuse. Not even going to mention Dykstra or G Brown, who haven't even earned the right to be called a JAG.

Wish Boulware would have stayed. That was a huge lose/lose for both him and the program. But I think Traore passes them all up and steps in as our starting guard like Boulware did last season.
There’s enough material to work with at OL. If Barry and Enos can’t put together a really nice (top 25) offense with what we have against the horrible competition we will face this year then they’re not who I think and hope they are.

I talk to my stepdad while truck driving.

We're both in agreement that its a race between Martell and Perry. We've got a small wager who is starting the UF game.

I've got Perry and he's got Martell.

I like JW, but expect a transfer.

So what happens if it’s JW?

I just wonder how crazy it will be if 2 or 3 weeks from now Manny/Enos announces JW and this site goes thermonuclear.

LT is one of those "on an island" positions.

Does Enos have enough to work with to scheme to help the young LT out?

He already hss to scheme to overcome a sub standard OL to begin with.

Enos is either going to earn the "Enos the Magician" or Dan Penos titles pretty quickly. Fine line between the two.

Can't wait to see Miami beat the green off those f[]cking lizards.

Go Canes.

If its JW, great. As I said, I like JW's stuff.

If you'd care to wager a piece of Hurricane apparel if JW is going to be the starter or not, PM me.

Tate will transfer to a PAC or Big 12 school, where he should’ve been in the first place.
He talked ****, lost the competition, quit on his team and transferred to Miami... #Leadership?

When did Tate lose the competition? Between winter and Spring? There was no competition. The coaches told him there wouldn't be and the fact that they told the NCAA he should be eligible is further proof of that. Tate worked harder than any of our QB's over summer so yeah #Leadership

I’m always up for a wager, I just don’t have any dog in the hunt. I can’t even begin to guess who’s going to start, although I think, like most people, I’m very slightly leaning towards one of two (NP or TM). But even then I’m not sure about

You do know that they still have David Feeley around them in the summer right? You dont think he reports back to Manny every day? Are you new to this football thing?

Martell IS Manny's guy....he brought him in when the other 2 constantly chirped about leaving the team. They wanted to quit instead of compete just cause Tate showed up. That is a lack of leadership. But like I said, summer workouts are Feeley run.

Maybe I missed it, but when did Perry quit? This must be FOX News because I never heard that before.

Having an all American guard while your QB is getting massacred is super important 👍🏽.

And if he was our best OT last year, who says he can’t make a jump at Tackle?
I’m with ya on this was just saying that could be a reason

Moss doesn't count since he was on track scholly. Miami isn't some bum *** walkonU like Whisky.

Perry never chirped about leaving. When they started looking at transfer QBs he got a Miami tattoo.
