- One thing I’d watch out for is how the receivers match Beck’s experience. Like Ward, Beck is throwing to spots/space rather than directly at guys sometimes. So the receiver needs to see the field and be ready for the throw and not be suprised. This is the second week the receiver hasn’t seen the space during a live rep resulting in an incompletion
QB or WR better adjust prontissimo or it will be ugly.

So TVD elevated George and Restrepo?

He made Mallory a 500+ yard TE?

George/Restrepo 2023 = 1,956 yards 14 TDs
George/Restrepo 2024 = 1,879 yards 19 TDs

@bdcane4eva get in here
He did bc it’s not
Just numbers , there was a lot of meaningless garbage stats in 2023
Cam had George making meaningful plays but in the end he’s a jag and so the nfl has spoken
U see tvd no one felt George was nfl talent
But with how cam made him look we thought he may have a chance in the league

George and X put up very good numbers before Cam too. X in fact had a 1000 yard season without him. George actually had more yards and same # of TDs the year before Cam. They were very good college WRs not JAGs. Just because a guy doesn't have NFL measurables doesn't mean they can't be good or great college players.
X is a good to great college player
To me George is not
He’s just avg p4 starting wr
To me definition of jag is avg
Jag means just another guy aka avg
So I call everyone I feel avg a jag or mid

During a few of the interviews during ACC media day, Beck discussed several times about player-led workouts and how he did extra work with the WRs. Also, let's stop lying to ourselves, it's not like we were constantly hearing about Cam working out with Wrs this time last year. That stuff is kept quiet for a reason. The majority of the stories about Cam's work ethic came out after the season when he was preparing for the draft- which is intentional

Yes, but clearly you are forgetting about those magical dozen spring practices...

I'm being sarcastic, but I will say that what I saw during the 2024 spring game did not make me feel like we were on the cusp of setting all-time single-season records on offense.

So, yes, I put more weight on the player-led workouts than the spring practices, though spring can certainly help.

By the numbers, that's just not true on George. I can tell just by eyeballing here (He was #14 in yards, #6 in TDs in the ACC - with 8 teams, 3 starting WRs, that's 54 starting WRs so he's already well above average there).

Im good with Marion focusing on punt returning only . We havent had a caliber like him in a long time
I believe you mean Kick returner not punt. He has only returned 10 punts in his entire career.

Marion on tunnel screens to get the ball in his hands is the way I see him fitting in this offense, he has YAC ability
You mean tunnel screens into smothering coverage right after RB off-guard dives into stacked boxes?

Yes please...MOAR!!

Miami's TUFF N FYZICAL O GONNA

D O M I N A T E

And I think if I was forced to pick better WR or better CB play for a Dawson offense I likely go CB... I mean George, X, Sam Brown all had show out years... Brown was waived by the packers and didnt even make the 90 man roster, X is fighting for his life for a practice squad role on a team that largely has **** WRs (plus no doubt Cam vouched for him) and George may make the Panthers as a reserve. The league says these guys were not great but Dawson got production I am hoping the young WRs can slide in and replicate that
Those are great points. Lots of guys open in this system. Cam made some amazing stretch plays where Beck will likely settle for something short or just throw it away. Either approach can be effective.

This is something that needs to get shored up ASAP. That kind of thing is what turns into a pick 6 because the receiver didn't go where he was supposed to. Going against some good secondaries this year, gotta clean that up.
Wow, twice in two weeks? Abandon all hope

When Beck completes his first downfield pass, I’ll feel more confident. I’m thinking screens and runs to start..come on Shannon.

Merion is not known as a good route runner so what you do for him is gadget plays or plays close to the LOS like screens. That’s his wheelhouse.

It’s people like you who make talking sports insufferable these days. Anywhere in that post did I say abandon all hope or that the sky is falling? No. I said it’s something that needs to get shored up ASAP. We open the season with what’s expected to be a top 5 secondary in the nation in less than an month and our inexperienced WR group isn’t on the same page as our QB. It’s a legit concern. Doesn’t mean abandon all hope or that it can’t be fixed by then you chooch.
