Fall Camp Early Portion Summary - 8/13

After the first scrimmage of fall camp, we knew there would likely be some depth chart changes, and the coaches were hinting towards that all last week. Here were a few changes that took place today.

**The biggest shakeup was at TE, with Brevin Jordan working with Malik Rosier and the first team, moving over Brian Polendey, who was with the twos. Will Mallory remained with the threes.

**Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas remained unchanged at first and second team RB respectively, but Trayone Gray was working as the third teamer and moved over from fullback today. Robert Burns (4th) also hopped over Lorenzo Lingard (5th) as well.

**The first team OL remained unchanged. LT George Brown was out with an undisclosed injury today, so the second team O-Line was shaken up a bit. Delone Scaife moved over to LT from RG to take his spot. Cleveland Reed moved into the 2nd team to take Scaife's spot at RG. Also Zalon'tae Hillery, who was previously working as the second team RT, moved down to third string and was replaced by Kai-Leon Herbert.

Yup. So far Brown’s RB recruiting grades are A+ last year and an F the year before.

Richt said Choc is still working at FB, but just that his days at TB aren’t quite over completely.

That scrimmage clip where Weldon got smashed from both sides? I think Lo must have missed an assignment there prompting Richt to switch back to someone with a little more experience. I don’t think the move is permanent. Just a wake up call to a few freshmen who may be listening to too much of their own hype.

That whole, “Yes. You can be demoted too.” type a thing to get them grounded.

Good point. I can see this being the case as well.

We saw this last year as well with the 5 star D-End from California (forgot his name) getting put behind 3 star Johnathan Garvin, who outworked the five star kid and earned more playing time.

This is what a meritocracy is supposed to look like.

Just because he plays in 4 games doesn't mean he won't shirt. Unless he improves in his blocking, plays Special Teams or injuries happen, I don't see how he doesn't shirt that low in the depth chart.

So 2 days ago the depth chart was fluid, but now it's set in stone? Uh, ok.

I'm willing to bet Lingard plays in every game he's healthy, and has a Homer-like impact on ST.

Seriously, how could you think he wouldn't be on ST?

Some of you need to listen to what Richt said.He said that choc is taking snaps at rb, not that he would play there exclusively

I said it was only the 1st depth chart and I never said he was going to RS...it was simply a question. But as usual some people can't even stand to see a question that they already have a preconceived answer to.

The point of these boards is to have discussion. I admit I do not have the highest football IQ out there...it's an interest I am trying to become more learned in. Just don't understand how some people get their thongs wedged so far up their cracks when someone asks a question.
