Fall Camp Early Portion Summary - 8/13

Fall Camp Early Portion Summary - 8/13

Stefan Adams
After the first scrimmage of fall camp, we knew there would likely be some depth chart changes, and the coaches were hinting towards that all last week. Here were a few changes that took place today.

**The biggest shakeup was at TE, with Brevin Jordan working with Malik Rosier and the first team, moving over Brian Polendey, who was with the twos. Will Mallory remained with the threes.

**Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas remained unchanged at first and second team RB respectively, but Trayone Gray was working as the third teamer and moved over from fullback today. Robert Burns (4th) also hopped over Lorenzo Lingard (5th) as well.

**The first team OL remained unchanged. LT George Brown was out with an undisclosed injury today, so the second team O-Line was shaken up a bit. Delone Scaife moved over to LT from RG to take his spot. Cleveland Reed moved into the 2nd team to take Scaife's spot at RG. Also Zalon'tae Hillery, who was previously working as the second team RT, moved down to third string and was replaced by Kai-Leon Herbert.

Second Team OL: LT Delone Scaife, LG Venzell Boulware, C Corey Gaynor, RG Cleveland Reed, RT Kai-Leon Herbert

So yeah, its the first depth chart change...but looks like Lingard is headed for a RS?

The Jordan move was inevitable. Hartley likes Pollendy. But Jordan will be a starter on Sundays. ... D$ got his wish with Scaife. The Legend of King Chocolate lives on.

anyone have any information on the george brown injury. hope it isn't serious,

IDK about that. I think Lingard will be a guy who can excel on special teams

True but we also have guys like DJ and Pope who can fly and make moves. Guess it comes down to who has the vision. I think though, with DJ likely to be the starting RB next year, it may be wise to save Lo.

Remember this depth chart is for week 1. Week 2-4 is when we cement things for league play.

Yeah I know and I agree anything can happen in the next 2 weeks. I admitted it was only the first change...but that was my take on it. Especially when they moved a FB back into RB. Really wondering why they did that and what the motivation/play is on that angle.

That offensive line 2-deep is our best 10 IMO. We need to ride with that.

While I def am intrigued by the idea of Lo as kick returner, I'm not exclusively talking about that. His size-speed combo paired with his drive and fire should make for a great gunner on special teams. That talent should be on the field in some capacity this year

Lol at Lingard taking a redshirt. He will end up 3rd on the depth chart behind Homer and Dallas.

Hoping the injury to Brown isn’t serious, not worried about the o line depth but he would have been on the second unit. Good to see Herbert elevate himself to second string.

I can totally agree with you on that aspect. Well, it's up to the coaches. They see the whole picture more than we ever could. So I leave it up to their judgement. I could go either way with Lo as a RS or as a special teams beast for year 1.

WHY?? Its a loooooooong season . Injuries happen all the time ....at any moment.. Especially at RB

If an injury happens, can't they just burn the RS and play him?

I mean, this may all be mute..he may move up the chart in the next couple weeks to #3. This is all hypothetical crap to keep our FB minds occupied til Sept. 2nd anyways.

That 2nd team OL ,IF they keep developing , can have a great future here

Is Lingards running style (straight up) holding him back or is it that he tries to bounce every run outside.?? He can fly but if he needs a RS year I'm all for it, I just don't see it happening unless his style needs an entire over haul.
