How about we get 10 wins this yr. nights and crew 1 yr ban from posting on this site.
Since golden sucks so much make it 9 wins, your call

" how about we get 10 wins this..." Shut up. If golden wins 10 and does some things I want to see then I will give him credit. I'll give golden credit for on field exploits when he deserves it.

I asked you to give me A notable on the field performance by golden and you had no answer.

Nites and I have one thing in common: neither of us is 100% sold on Golden just yet.

I expect to be sold on him completely after this season.

The problem with Nites/Newkirk isn't that he isn't 100% sold on Golden, it's that he's making stupid comments such as we know Golden isn't any good. Golden's done a good job with what he's been handed thus far. Sadly Newkirk wants him to wave his magic wand and make it all perfect right away.

The widely held assumption that people who dislike Dorito = Shannon supporters, has to be one of the most short-sighted and ignorant beliefs on this board.

Almost as dumb as the belief that D'Onofrio is running the defense independently of Golden.

What's this suppose to mean. No matter what angle you take the situation on d is not good. Golden never had any notable performances as a dc, his defenses didnt do anything of note at temple..same for ohnofrio. Not good no matter what angle is taken.

Just go look at the numbers. The defenses at UVA and Temple both improved. Temple went from triple digits and getting lit up by EVERYONE, to a borderline top-15 unit. If you don't think that's impressive, then you have a clear anti-Golden agenda.

Did Temple arguably have the best talent in the MAC? Yes. That's a GOOD thing! That tells me Golden can recruit and develop talent, which have been our BIGGEST issues over the past decade.

Golden is still relatively young in his coaching career. The season is about to start. Let's take a step back and see how things look in season three.

Olden gets kudos for what you mentioned above but that's not good enough here. Amongst all that he has zero notable performances. That's my problem. He amassed the best collection of telnet in the Mac. That is great but he didnt do anything with it. That's is a problem. Miami just fired a guy for dam near the samething.

Agree he is young and he could evolve into a great coach but there are no signs of that right now. Lastly I agree the season is young, is about to start and that could change but right now, this is what we have.

For the record I am not 100% sold either. But I support and give the man time and recognize the good he has done. Defense sucked last yr. golden still doubled the wins the experts/ professionals predicted. We were tied for first in the coastal, yea it is like the tallest midget. But that has never been done at the u in the acc.

Shannon was confused and over his head and ultimately deserved to be fired. He probably lasted a little longer than he should have. In steps golden who I thought was an upgrade and this was further backed up by some of the off season talk he perpetuated in interviews and such. I even thought this new dc would have this defense rockin and Rollin. Turns out I was wrong and golden has proven that he is no better tHan Shannon and in some ways worse. He hasn't accomplished anything on the field to suggest he's the coach Miami needs to return it to its lory days.

In the end everyone here is a miami fan and wants miami to win. Something that hasn't been done as of yet by the current regime.

There seems to be the same type of confusion demonstrated but the previous regime. Golden even wanted to and did retain several coaches from a failed regime....one of the reasons n used by some as to why Shannon shouldn't have never gotten the position.

Nonetheless everything will workout and golden will weed himself out if he isn't the right man for the job which it looks to be that way. Nice talker just pathetic results.

Ok...I will bite on this one. In which ways are Golden "worse" than Shannon? I am sure that I will regret asking this question, but I am in the mood for comedy this morning.

Golden produced the worse defense in canes history
Failed to have Miami ranked at any point in year 2
Failed to beat a double digit winning team or a team that finished the season ranked
and even with all that he's had more successful seasons in year 1 and year 2 than randy did.

1 more win? With 2 wins coming against interim coaches?

Strong argument there...WTF does that matter. You want to discount his record by stating that he had an advantage of coaching against two interim coaches but will not give him credit for having a better record with multiple suspensions of starters while getting slammed with allegations weeks before the start of the season all while the players are getting used to a new staff and a new system. On the flip side you won't want to talk about the stellar 5-7 season that was put together by Shannon in '07 when there was continuity for the most part and familiarity with the players that he helped recruit.

I think that you would be hard pressed to find anybody who would say that they are happy with the results of the first two seasons of Golden's regime. I also believe that you would be hard pressed to find many people who aren't excited about the direction of the program now.

I know that you won't answer this question because you never do but I will ask it anyway. What outcome would you be happy with from this season? Where would the defense need to be ranked nationally? What record would you accept as a success?

Right now golden hasn't been good and no, he doesn't t get a press pass from me because his on the field exploits ie defensive play calling, situational defensive play calling, use of personnel etc has been way below avg. garbage really.

People keep talking about how bad golden has it. **** Boston college has it worse than Miami in 2011. They lost more starts due to injury/ suspension than Miami did. Against Maryland bc started 2 frosh dt's, a frosh olb and at times had an all frosh secondary due to injuries and they still beat sorry *** Maryland. This is without wr's who made nfl rosters, an nfl rb, nfl guys on o-line etc.

Then this same handicapped bc team comes into Miami after Miami announces bowl ban so Miami should be hyped up and ready to send sr's out a winner with most all players back from suspension and lose AT HOME to a 3-8 handicapped team!!!!

Good news. This well help him and if he's worth anything I expect to see less pedly tds given up by comical mismatches and garbage defensive situational play calling.

I don't know how anyone can be 100% sold on Golden.

He's lost games we should have won and he hasn't won any games we weren't supposed to. By the end of this season, I'll have my final feeling on Golden.

I'll either believe he's the man to take us back to the promise land, or he's Frank Beamer (that's not a compliment).

Well, you're entitled to your opinion, no matter how wrong it may be. Golden took a team that every single expert and college football publication expected to win only 4-6 games, and he won 7. Many of those predictions also came before some of the suspensions occurred, which means the team was even more handicapped than expected at the time those dire predictions were made. Let's also not forget that a large proportion of that team that you say "should have been hyped up and ready to send sr's out a winner" included a lot of the highly entitled dead weight from the Shannon years.

Discount what ? 13-11? That's chitty. Garbage as ****. Name me one good/ great team that has won anything going 13-11? And I've already answer'd your question in another post pay attention.

Wow you are stretching pinning the BC game on golden. The Srs threw that game to get back at golden and the administration for no bowl and getting rid of their leader RS

Those prediction were also based on other teams being better than what they were. Turns out they sucked worse than projected. Again beating 2-10 bc does not move me. Getting trounced, out coached and having players quit against Notre dame and k-state poss me off. He didnt have to win those games. Just be competitive and show something. He showed nothing.

He can change that this year yes but there is nothing out there that tells me he will RIGHT NOW.

Oh, of course, that was all on Golden. Nothing to do with the players losing those two games and not being competitive. It's also amusing how many excuses you make whenever your point is shot to $#!t. Now, of course, the predictions were made because they thought the other teams would be better. Yeah, that's it.

Those ND and K-State games were brutal. Never seen a Miami team get beat like that.

No you didn't answer the question. What record would you be happy with this season to the point that you would actually give Golden credit? Where would the defense need to rank for you be happy with the performance of our DC?
