Devonte Anderson breaks down his recruiting process following official visit with Miami
The Hurricanes hosted three-star defensive back Devonte Anderson this weekend for an official visit. Hailing from Winter Garden, Florida at 6-foot-1 and 185-pounds, Anderson played on both sides of the ball for his West Orange high school team. Alongside Miami, the likes of Auburn, Maryland, Rutgers and UCF are after Anderson who the UM staff views as a safety. He spoke to me for CanesInSight following his official visit and here’s what he had to say:
Overall takeaways from his visit:
“It was great overall. We had a great visit in Miami, it was awesome.”
“What stood out to me was coaches keeping it real, saying I'll be a big factor in this program. So yeah, that really stood out to me.”
On his relationship with coach Etheridge and coach Harris:
”Coach Etheridge came to see me at school, we're talking ball, a lot of ball. Coach Will Harris, we've had that connection since Florida, when he was recruiting me there and to transfer over to Miami and offered me here, that shows that he really wants me, you know, offering me at both spots.”
On where he’s at in his recruiting process:
“Miami definitely sits in my top five, for sure. There’s also Louisville, Auburn, Rutgers, and UCF.”
“[The other schools] are saying I'll come up early, for sure. Anywhere I go, I'll make it, then the next step is the league. So that's the goal, I want to play it early, freshman All-American, that's my goal. So, all these schools have been telling me I'll play it early, I'll be an impact player in their defense.”
”I look at Miami as a top priority for me.”
“My commitment date was supposed to be July 11th, but I’m aiming for the end this month, or I'm gonna just keep it July 11th.”
