DE Damon Wilson II commits to Miami

Miami has landed one of the top defensive prospects in the portal cycle, securing the commitment of Missouri edge Damon Wilson II.

The Hurricanes beat out Texas Tech, LSU and Ohio State for the top-10 overall portal prospect, bringing the Florida native back to the Sunshine State.

Listed at 6-foot–4 and 250 pounds, the rising senior spent two years at Georgia before his breakout 2025 season — where he racked up 9 sacks, 23 total tackles and 2 forced fumbles.

He fits the style of DC Corey Hetherman as an aggressive down field rusher who causes chaos with incredible power and burst off the edge. Wilson particularly shined in the pass rush, leading the Tigers with 54 pressures and QB hurries with 37.

As mentioned above, Wilson is a Florida native who applied his trade at Venice — the high school of incoming freshman edge rusher Asharri Charles. In his original 2023 class, Wilson was a five-star, one of the top-50 recruits in the country.

Wilson joins WR Vandrevius Jones, WR Cam Vaughn, DB Omar Thompson, DT Jarquez Carter, and kickers Jack Olsen and Jake Weinberg as the ’Canes current portal haul, with more moves to come.

False! Well.. maybe.. but he naturally got older and stronger too. He led Miami in sacks each of the past 3-4 seasons, even years that he was injured no?

As I said in another thread, those IU punks made Mario’s resolve to get us #6 multiply times 1,000,000.

This is a fantastic get. We all wanted this young man to play for Miami out of high school, and now he’s finally a Cane.

Him, Lowe, Lightfoot, Blount, Moten, Scott, Carter, Scroggins, McConathy, Stancil and Charles. That could be a nightmare for opposing OL’s.

Wilson is the perfect fit for our DL next year. You can see the pash rush from Moten and Scott progress at the end of the year.

The pass rush up the middle is going to be insane next year, flushing QBs to break outside the pocket where speed guys like Wilson and Lightfoot will excel.

True, but I will say I will wait to see how whoever we get in that role does in this defense.

Imagine this hypothetical, we have Scotts year all year and we go to the portal, we get a kid from auburn, his highlight tape is Scott's highlight tape from when we got him last year. No one would really argue Auburn Scott would replace Miami Scott but he sure as **** did, just had the perfect skillset for that role which allowed him to thrive.

incredibly excited about our defense this year

was worried about losing Jason Taylor because retaining him this long seems to good to be true but maybe Wilson coming means that's a non issue

I don’t remember the exact play but I do remember he had an insane college play where he absolutely wrecked the offensive player. I’ll have the see if I can find it
