TVD is the best QB we have. We pretty much are going to fly or crash with him. But getting a quality backup is more a reflection of what is behind TVD. It’s never a bad thing to have an insurance policy like that in case of injury or something. Plus competition at all positions is a good thing right?

No sir. Not at all. There are some tools there with that kid. It’s just an unanswerable question at the moment with him. I do feel like fans got a little too giddy about him after GT. Understandable I guess since we don’t get much to cheer about.

Let’s see how he develops. But we have games to play in the meantime and need to get this ship pointed in the right direction. For now, keep developing him but also keep recruiting a QB every year.

 

I can. My job depends on hiring the right people. Now I know this is a different situation, but hiring in haste is a recipe for disaster. I’ve learned that through hard experience.

Anyway, we are under new administration. If the plan is indeed to fire Gaddis, all the pre-work I’m sure is being done already.

I get your point, but the data sets on TVD are kinda neutral regardless of who is OC next year.

Him staying stunts Jacurri's growth. They might/might not be a good thing.

HBK could use a year with a real coach not named Gattis. Either way I think we will be OK.

That’s the thing about hiring people, it’s always a crapshoot, whether you take your time or not. There are no guarantees. Generally though, as in anything else in life, the greater effort and intellect you put into something, the higher the likelihood of success.

But there are no sure things. Ever. Having said that, pretty much anybody hired will be better than the current option, you just want to hire the best available person with the best fit. Never discount fit, either… both with the current coaching staff/personnel, the current player talent, and the current talent pool to be recruited.

PS "Winged Victory" is one of my favorites there...a must see...

 

No portal QB is going to enroll at Miami to compete vs a consensus NFL draft pick (assuming Miami gets a decent OC).

 

You have to be an idiot of magnificent proportions to NOT want TVD back.

He was the QB for an offense that finished in the top 25 last year in THE COUNTRY in points scored. That offense lost a total of TWO players (neither of which even stuck on an nfl roster) and magically slipped to one of the worst offenses in the country.

So either you believe Lashlee was Bill Walsh reincarnated or you recognize that Gattis is one of THE worst OC's this program has ever had to endure.

TVD will look just fine in a COMPETENT offensive system. That part is on Mario to recognize and correct.
