And he's particularly good at setting the edge, and a big reason our run defense is so good. All some of these guys can see when it comes to talent at DE is explosiveness. And that isn't Thomas' main strength. But the kid is easily good enough to play on Sundays, and we are **** lucky to have him back next year. We have one of the best front 7 in the country in 2017.
The box score for the Under Armour game showed that Johnson returned a kick for 31 yds - for anyone that watched the game, is that true?

We have to stack the DL every year if we are going to compete against the top teams. 2017 is a great start with Johnson, Garvin and Ford. If we can add that big Virginia DT, then are well on our way.

I have no problem with Chad, just that IMO he'll be better and the team by putting on weight and strength and playing DT. In my evaluation during games, his get off, flexibility (dip low) and ability to disengage aren't elite. He has the frame to easily be 295 and bulk up his strength. He'll be quicker than the guys trying to block him and be great on stunts. Again IMO.
And because he was finally healthy I seen plenty of explosion that night from Thomas. One of the most impressive plays by the defense is when he got off very fast when wvu was stacked up on the their own 2 yard line and he got a tfl

Lmao idiotic. We'd have a lot of problems if Chad Thomas wasn't here next season. He done such a great job as a junior he may have not got the sack numbers but his overall game was great for us. Dj will most likely take over that spot AFTER Thomas leaves. Dj got ate up by larger OTs it would be awesome if he could redshirt but he'll play as a frosh just on natural pass rushing ability alone but he will be nowhere near starting next season.
