“No I haven’t (visited yet), but I’m visiting them this month actually,” Johnson Jr. said. “I’m coming down on the 28th and 29th, I believe.”

Is his father coming?

I don’t know for sure, but considering his dad works on Oregon’s staff, I think that would be kind of weird.

I gotta be loyal to my family,.. my word Is all I have. I don’t want to ruin the already almost nonexistent relationship I have with my sister either. As staff writers and the like post articles; I will confirm or not if they are legit..

I respect that.

That's also Whoop's approach when he has the skinny on a new development - but when you finally receive his PM's - they are solid gold.

Let me take a moment to tip the cap to @Stefan Adams. I have to say, this post is just one one of several high quality articles unmatched anywhere else.

A great addition to this site.

I’d like anyone to tell me if they see anything like this either in quantity or quality from our sports media that covers the canes. Not even close. Way to keep us informed and on top of this recruitment, Stefan.

Great job.
Great post OCCC. I could not agree more. Stefan is on this bytch like...

Great job.

Thank you for the kind words and love, I really do appreciate the recognition.

I promised you all on Day 1 that we'd strive to be #1 in Miami Hurricanes coverage and I'd bring it the best way I know how. I believe I've lived up to that promise so far.

I also hope you've enjoyed some of the staff's work as much as my own. As everyone becomes more comfortable, finds their niche, and we start to gel more as a staff, this thing is gonna be a beast. It's only the beginning.

Keep bringing your support and I'll keep bringing the fire.

For those that don't think the kid will cross coast to come all the way to Miami, you don't know your history about our program. We have historically and successfully brought Qb's from the west coast; just to name a few... Ken Dorsey, Kyle Wright, Brad Kaaya, and Gino Torretta.

For those that think we don't have a chance because of Johnson's family ties to another school, just remember, they said the same thing about Case Weldon and Bradley Jennings. Their pops went to our rival, F$U. People also said the same thing about Will Mallory last season.

I know, none of the above mentioned situations included players that had fathers on the coaching staff of the local school. I personally think this works in our favor regarding Johnson. Most kids want to have a real college experience. It's one thing to remain in the same city as your parents, like what we have when our local talent stays home. It's a completely different animal when the parent is on campus, at practice, on the field, on away trips, conducting routine dorm checks, etc....

Many kids in his situation decide to go to schools opposite of where the father is currently coaching, and as I've pointed out, for good reason.

Considering the above mentioned, along with Jon Richt being the lead recruiter, I really like our chances with this kid.

It'll be interesting to see what happens here.

If J. Richt gets him to commit, then clearly we'll be a force to be reckoned with for QB recruits at the very top of our board from anywhere in the country in the future.

However it turns out, I still think we'll be getting a big-time QB commit in every class while Richt Sr. is here. And occasionally two in a class.

Do we need a WR coach ... just asking...

Not to sound like a broken record, but I can't say enough how much I appreciate CIS and the new staff! Being as far away from the 305 as I am, it's extremely difficult to get great info on our Canes. Especially before the advent of the internet. Keep it coming guys. Much appreciated!

He looks very good. But, it is tough to project stars. But, I love the fact that the staff will go anywhere and recruit anyone they think will help.

His competition sucks, but he certainly has the goods no doubt about it. He would be our top QB recruit in years. That being said, I think pulling him would be tough, make sure we are going after 3-4 other kids at the same time. Not one of our QB's have proven anything near bringing us to the top yet. Not saying they can't just hasn't happened yet. Go after him but keep an open mind. I agree with the poster above, could be a game changer that could put us in the playoffs. Now get the big boys to protect him. We're getting better every year now, we certainly have the WR's for our next great QB, get it done!
I concur. I understand that this is the QB they want for the 2019 class and John Richt is putting a lot of time in with this kid. However, how realistic is he about NOT playing for his Dad's school? Does he want to get out of the shadow of his parents or be close to home.? He's saying the right things, but is this the reality?

One of the things that always worries me is when these kids say, "the coach told me I'm their #1 guy at my position." I wonder if that affects the recruitment of other players if they see those comments or interviews.

If Player A1 is the #1 guy and Player A2 reads that, will player A2 be as interested especially if Player A2 is getting love from another school telling him he's their #1 guy? This is how you could wind up with a plan B or C player. If you miss on a guy that you put so much into that one guy, you may lose out on the others.

I hope the staff is recruiting other QBs just as hard because I'm a bit skeptical when it comes to recruiting coaches' kids when the coach is at a competing school.

Wow man, got some awesome news last night too. I’m sorry that I can’t share with y’all because they have muzzled me. I’m dead though right now so don’t mind me...
Hey!!! Thanks for the insider information!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Michael Johnson says that he is ready to lock up a commitment to the Canes, he's just waiting for his trip down to Coral Gables later this month to see campus in person for the first time. [Michael] Johnson Jr. says that he loved the Canes from day one, and he still "wants to go through the process", but he will be signing with the Canes come December.
