Coach Speak: Brown gives take on QB controversy

I remember Richt saying about N'Kosi at one post game presser that (paraphrasing here): "If I wasn't such an old guy that's been through just about everything, maybe I would've put him in sooner, but you just never know when a game can turn rapidly". The point is that this QB "controversy" is really about Richt not being prepared to take risks. Is he wrong? If he did throw N'Kosi in earlier, would he have set him up to fail? How would we react if Perry's debut had turned into a ****-show? I've got to be honest, I think Richt really cares about these kids, as much as the team: his concerns are also about how they will be affected and how that damages the team in the long run. FIU proved N'Kosi is ready, the team responded well, and his ceiling is way higher than Rosier. One interception on a deep ball whilst on the move versus some of the sweetest "bullseyes" we've seen in at least two years... I'll take it. Next man up: #StartPerry (And credit to Rosier for supporting Perry from the sideline: team player, showing maturity)

Hold up -- weren't we told that Rosier wasn't "benched" and that the plan all along was for Perry to come in on the third series?

You need to pay better attention. That was the plan before the game to bring Perry in for the third series, the benching the park took place when Perry stayed in. The idea was to give Perry a series or two and see how it worked. Worked well. He stayed in. Ergo Rosier benched.

That’s how it looked to me at the game as well and I haven’t seen the replay, but live, it looked like Cager gave up on the ball and slowed up/stopped about 5 yards short, when if he kept going for the ball he may not have caught it but he would’ve prevented the interception.

At least that’s how it looked to me at the stadium. If anybody wants to throw up a replay maybe that’s what it will show. But that was my recollection from watching it live at the stadium anyway.

12:09 I guess this will be debated until we win our next ring.

Thomas Brown isn’t an offensive coordinator with all due respect. I like Brown and I think he is an excellent recruiter and RBs coach. However he is not an OC sorry especially when evaluating the QB position.

His job title says otherwise

Only Perry knows who he was throwing to. I haven’t looked at the replay yet, but I swear to you at the game, it looked like, to me anyway, he was throwing to Cager and that Cager gave up on the ball.

And I don’t know what Brown was referring to. He could’ve meant what I was saying - that he thought the ball was being thrown to Cager, or he used the word underestimated incorrectly and thought he was throwing to the guy that was 90 yards out. Who knows.

Hightower was closer to where the ball was intercepted than Cager.

6 of one. Half a dozen of the other I guess.

Don't call it a controversy.

All it is at this point is media fed, ratings driven click bait.

Man, they're REALLY taking this Richards suspension too far at this point. Gotta think kid has learned his lesson by now...

Concerned about Jaquan. I thought we'd heard he'd be back in time for UNC. Still not practicing, though? We need him back, pronto, so we can kick the crap outta Tonto.

U work with coach? first post, nice.

They were both within 5 yards of where the ball eventually landed. But I’m not married to either scenario.

The good news is he threw that ball in the air, pretty much all arm, without really setting his feet hard, for about 45-50 yards ... the bad news is it was an Ill advised throw.

Let’s try to clear the air. The perception is cmr is trying to out fox unc by not announcing starter so unc can’t game plan. Gentlemen there is not that much of a difference between Rosier and Perry in the way they play qb. Yes Perry appeares to be a more effective qb. They both don’t play qb under the center. They both have ability to run. We are not talking like replacing Kaaya, who had no ability to run with Perry. The game plan for both QBs will be almost identical, regardless who starts or plays more. Let us eliminate the drama on why 1 day Perry practiced with ones and today Rosier did. Unc will have an identical game plan that would be the same regardless who started and played the most.

Well y’all apparently, our OC doesn’t know what he’s doing!!!! You don’t rise to the Challenge, you fall back on your training!!!!!

Everybody is complaining about Perry's interception. It was third down and he threw it farther than feagles would of punted it anyways So to me it was worth a shot.I wish they would throw it up late in the first half instead of taking a knee

Exactly lol

You read through this whole thread after being here for 4 years and are still this ******* dumb?

Jesus wept. I always try and stick up for us when people say we are the dumbest fan base in America.

Don't make me doubt myself moran.

I’ll take Malik as our backup QB all day long. Been a while since I’ve felt we could withstand something happening to our starting QB

Hightower saw it was short thought it was 4 cager. Cager saw it was long thought it was 4 Hightower. Neither made a real play for the ball. (All 3.#18#5#7 @fault ) n the db didn't know who 2 guard so he was in the middle n got a nice surprise lmao. Stop stressing over lil sh*t. Major lesson 4 kosi. No he knows SET UR FEET NEXT TIME. Game was pretty much over. Stress when he does that with games on the line. Probably will run next time to be safe.
