He did get **** on by the entire fanbase and even other recruits when he committed. Now that we see the coaches evaluation was better than the recruiting services probably has some hard feelings.

It's so funny how fans follow those stars like they are some kinda be all/end all

T. Burns and George are pretty much must gets...And fans cry their eyes out because coaches are ahead of 247.

Legit top 12-15 in the tri-county...top 40 in state type kids...And they're crying.

this staff has an extremely detailed recruiting system, fans just dont know because unlike golden they are trying to "Sell" themselves through videos on youtube.

I been saying the kid is a beast. I recall he had a relative posting on this site too. Yea the fan base and a commit was throwing shade his way. Either way this kid is going to ball out. We can’t always fall for the hype. You have to watch the film.

Stars matter and we should care about it.

It’s just odd when people get ****ed about a star ranking a year and a half away from signing day.

That’s taking it way too far.

Nah you really shouldn't...because not every star ranking is accurate. Some are, some aren't...And it's what you do with those stars when you get em.

So yes long-term you want more "4 than 3"...But if that's if you assume every staff's talent evaluation and development skills are exactly the same (which they aren't)...Then what if their overall decimal rating is .000001 away from being a 4* average, etc...Also although the higher rated players are better long run, the co-relation is NOWHERE NEAR strong enough for everyone to throw a **** fit when we sign a 3* kid...And basically that's what goes on on this and a lot of message boards.

Of course we should care. *Literally* every study shows that. Stars, for all their flaws, are the most accurate predictor of success there is. Not a single team has been able to go agains the grain since like the 2000 Sooners.

I would agree with you that maybe the biggest flaw in the star system is the kinda gray areas. Where a kid is a .88something and a fraction away from the .89 4* rating.
But the solution to that is to get even more detailed with it and start citing the actual ranking. "He's a .94 rated player." Then the ranking system gets even more accurate.

The star ratings are far less accurate during their sophmore and junior years.

Well about 1.5 years before the student graduates? Jacolby is now ranked a 4 star. Since it’s so early, we shouldn’t get caught up with stars as we may with a senior. He was a 3 star as a sophomore. That’s good for a kid very few people knew about. I have my reservations with the star system but it’s needed and for so many kids playing ball it maybe the most accurate assessment for a large number of athletes. That being said, the kid was getting bashed on even though he killed it as a sophomore. I think it was too early to be concerned with his rating.

100% this. And trust the coaches until they give us a reason not to. The response to his commitment was embarrassing, I even saw posts to him on Twitter, simply because the recruiting services was slow to properly evaluate him.
