Gil can definitely play corner but everyone, staff included feels safety is where he ends up at eventually.

His position coach feels differently since Gil is reminds him of when he came out of Atlantic.

Al Blades is the one who should move..he is dynamic at Safety.

Ya I agree between Patke, Simpson, Banda (not so much Simpson who I do like moving forward), one of those needed to be a Sofla ace...The next Eddie Gran/T-Rob, etc...I think Richt thought he had that with Rumph because of his coaching and playing days (HS/UM/Pro) and then coaching days. And obviously you can't fault Richt for that line of thinking...It just hasn't worked out like that, Rumph's personality just must be very different from some of these HS diva types.

I would have to agree with that. Recruiting is too important to ignore the misses on “top” SoFl DB’s. I’d say we at 50/50 on top targets to second choices

thank u good sir because your not allowed to have an opinion on a player if it seems negative for some reason. U have to worship the staff and its players and everything they do is gospel (sarcasm on)
@Brooklyndee my boy dee...... us not landing certain players has put Gil at cb or am I right or wrong?
To an extent yes ur right. However the plan has always been to have him start out his career as a corner & develop his coverage & ball skills than move him to safety as a more complete player once he builds into his grown frame. Gil can be great as a corner & if i had to guess id say he will be but as a safety he can be elite.

I think he would be a very good safety

Can anyone name a former Miami DB that started out a cb and moved to Safety and played it at a high level?

LOL

Based on what exactly?

Based on all his film and nose for the ball at safety, physicality (not a headhunter, but plenty physical), his size, AND in the limited film we've seen him at camps, paradise, etc...He looked a little stiff in the hips trying to cover. Does that mean he can't improve there and be a corner? Of course not. I will root for him and be pleasantly surprised if he can stick at corner obviously, but man he looked like a natural FS to me.

he is dynamic at Safety.

Where are we getting this "dynamic" stuff at? Has he ever played there? "can be dynamic in my opinion" is different that "he is dynamic"

I don't care how you feel about it nor your understanding of what I wrote. It's my opinion after seeing him play the Safety position.

His film shows him defensively at CB making play after play after play...not Safety

It's so much easier in high school to put your best DB at Safety and let them patrol the middle of the field...when they don't, it's bc they may be lacking the toughness it takes to play safety. it's a different WORLD than cb.

I think you and anyone else deeming him a safety based off of high school film are clueless.

Lots of people think you just put your least athletic/stiff hipped DB at Safety...that could not be further from the truth.

LOL

Antrel Rolle was the most physical cb to ever play cfb he would’ve been a beast FS in college if we needed him there.

No I've been watching his film since his soph year making plays at safety...And since you gave an opinion of me, I think you are trying to sound more important than you are, and I honestly don't give a flying a **** about your little blown up opinion.

And when did you see Blades play safety position? I was asking that honestly, not as a flame...but since you got defensive answer it or don't answer how you feel.

Pretty sure Brandon Merriweathers first few games at Miami he played Nickel CB....(though don't think he was ever truly considered a corner), The same thing happened with Jaquan Johnson - first year starting was at Nickel CB because Jenkins and Carter were at Safety.

Antrel Rolle played CB, and moved to Safety in the NFL and played at a high level.
Adrian Colbert played CB here, and now in the NFL is a safety and is starting for the 49ers.
also pretty sure Bennie Blades went from Corner to Safety.

Really? You're going back to his Soph film when he only played safety bc they had 2 experienced guys at cb and needed to get their best 4 on the field..ok

I think you are trying to sound more important than you are,

Skeeter how many boards have I been with you? Quite a few...you believe I'm important. Are you jealous?

I honestly don't give a flying a **** about your little blown up opinion.
If you don't then why reply to me when it's pretty clear I wasn't posting to you? You dudes be weird as **** man.

What does it matter since you don't give flying **** right? Ok then...go the **** away

You actually put your MOST athletic guy at safety. If you look at NFL Combine, the safeties are the ones that have the elite Jumps and Top H/W adjusted 40's. CB's will have better 3-cone, shuttles, and 40(depending on H/W). Obviously theres elite athletes at CB too, but i'd say on average, safeties need to be more explosive.
