Kevin is a great guy. I can't say enough good things about him. I would love to see Al hire him to the staff.

The other guy I would lobby hard for is Donnell Bennett. Donnell is a great coach and a great guy who is wholeheartedly committed to UM.

One kid we are really excited about is Alfonso Blades, which is Al Blades’ son. The awareness and football mind that he has as a 9th grader is not something you see every day. He is going to be a real special kid.

Can't just skip by that. Anyone in that family is a welcome addition to the team.

Blades is one of those names: Sign the kid.

From Coley to Hurlie, Harris, and now Baez. Golden sure knows how to pick em. All of them have been home runs so far.

Soo Donorfrio, Kehoe, Carroll, Scott, Jethro, Barrow, and Williams are _______?

I have no issues with Kehoe, Scott, Barrow or even Williams. I believe our secondary has improved under his coaching. It's hard to blame the Db's for giving up a lot of passing yards when our DL gives the opposing quarterback all day to sit in the pocket and make whatever throw he wants. We could use an upgrade in Jethro though

not to mention he was instrumental in UM landing stacey coley. would love to see him on the staff as well

We've been scrimmaging U-School in 7-on-7 for the past couple weeks. That new head coach they got is a classy guy and he's doing a good job of coaching their kids up. They still have some good athletes, they're just not loaded with D-1 kids like before. They'll be alright though.

Beard's a cool guy too.

SMH

You guys will take anybody who used to wear a Canes uni.

Bennett's a terrible coach. Not only did his Northeast teams severely underachieve but they acted like complete jackasses every time they were on the field.

Our influence spreading again. Since Kevin feels we should, I hope Pender comes on board. Just can't figure out why there are 30 D-1 WR's and no high caliber DT's in all of SoFL. The little statistical knowledge I have says that is virtually impossible. You SoFL boyz better start showing the big girls some love.

The reason is tge weight system in optomist ball. Heavy kids arent playing till their in the eight or ninth grade. I didnt play till ninth grade, and played varsity then...lucky thing I played bball and street football with guys like jon beason, and others from miramar area or I wouldve been cooked.

Then you dont even have good ol dl coaching then after. I mean they dont even stress the coaching developmentof ol or dl down here. Sta has their ol coach who churns them out, carol city had their dl run, dillard had theirs. Sfla football is funny, seeing state teams with a bunch of 5 10 180 pd dts running around

6:45 ....I will never forget

gogeta nailed it, but I'll add that South Florida does produce a ****load of talented DTs. Geno Atkins, Vince Wilfork, Corey Liuget, Ricky Jean-Francois, Ray McDonald. If you made a DL of only South Florida players it would be the best in the NFL by a mile.

Some of those guys are years apart.

South Florida is not a DT recruiting/developmental ground unfortunately.

I was talking to D'Onofrio during spring and he said one of the most surprising things about coaching Miami is that he thought they'd be able to find more DT's down here.

Agreed on the development part, but there's just so many talented athletes down here that some studs are bound to roll through. DTs in general are hard to find.

Do you think the problem with D'Onofrio finding DL down here is that he priorities strength and physicality instead of quickness?

I think size has a lot to do with it as well. dudes dont see the field until they are a certain weight

I'm sure that's part of D'Onofrio's problem.

However...

I've been coaching down here for years and I can't recall seeing (or playing against) too many impact D-linemen, especially interior guys. I recall some undersized, quick guys but nothing in the mold of what Miami is looking for. I think STA has a monopoly on them in Broward.
