Even with the ’Canes heading into regional play tomorrow, Miami has been busy in the transfer portal for the 2026 season as they’ve landed FIU Senior first-baseman Brylan West.
An imposing figure at 6’4, 230 pounds, West has been a consistent power bat for the Panthers at first base. For the past two years at FIU he received all-conference recognition batting over .330 with double-digit homers.
Even while being a power bat, West gets on base at a nice clip and provides serviceable defense at first all while not having much protection around him in the lineup.
With uncertainty going into next season at the first base position, West can provide not only an answer at the spot, but a real jolt to the offense with his consistency.
West becomes Miami’s second transfer acquisition for the upcoming season, joining Miami-Dade’s Cian Copeland as the Canes look to build their progress this season.
