I don't find it sad in the least. Somebody had to win those jobs. The fact that they were won by a true freshman and a red shirt freshman says to me that the younger players are better which is generally an indication that the talent level is increasing.

The true beauty of this line is they could all be back next season even the full second team. This line could be deep and talented as **** come 2020

1st Team
LT Zion Nelson SO
LG Navaughn Donaldson SR
C Corey Gaynor RJR
RG DJ Scaife JR
RT John Campbell RSO

2nd Team
LT Kai-Leon Herbert RJR
LG Cleveland Reed RSO
C Jakai Clark SO
RG Ousman Traore RSO or JR
RT Zalon'tae Hillery RJR

3rd Team
LT Adam ElGammel RFR
LG Zach Dykstra RJR
C Antonio Smith (EE) FR
RG Jalen Rivers (EE) FR
RT Issiah Walker (EE) FR

Thats the makings of championship depth on the O Line
I forgot where I saw it, but Clarke mixes to starting RG when Scaife moves to LT.

Love Campbell's upside, he's a prototype RT at 6'6 310lbs with long arms & can move.

He just needs time for it all to click together, but what stands out about him is his natural strength, he's not getting bullied & can anchor. Technique is still being refined, but as the season progresses he should settle in at that spot.

Once Zion, Big Vaughn, Gaynor, Scaife & Campbell all gel they can be a very solid cohesive unit. One thing I'm confident on is we'll see an improvement on run blocking from this group, pass blocking we'll see, but I believe our run game will look much better in Enos system & with Coach Barry teaching these guys.
All true. And what I really love about Campbell is that by all accounts he's a competitive dude with a nasty streak. I know it gets said all the time, but this has been sorely lacking from our OL for years imo.

This. gayters have no idea that the **** show down here has been cancelled. They really think Canes are in disarray but I feel this unit will hold up will given the time they’ve had. The 3 inside have been together all through practice. Great move by the coaches. Zion May surprise some people and Campbell is strong and hopefully holds up through game 1. Should be a solid first line. Enos gonna work the gayters with play calling. Our backs should get big yards. This could be Burns coming out party.

I'll know more when I watch him live this year, but best comparison I've heard is he moves like Vernon Carey once did.

My initial impression comparison for Jalen Rivers was Brandon Washington. Not as exciting as a Vernon Carey comp (which would be amazing), but still a **** talented and productive OL. Brandon Washington with a better head on his shoulders would have been even more successful here and likely in the league.

Worried sick about our OTs against Greenard and Zuniga.
TEs and RBs will need to help.
Pretty confident in our interior OL against their mediocre DTs.
Our WRs must create separation against Henderson, Wilson, Dean.

They'll get beat sometimes for sure, but having a guy like Enos who will call plays and build schemes to protect the inexperienced tackles, and an accurate passer like jarren helping the offense be more efficient and avoid 3rd and long situations will be huge for the betterment of Zion and John.
Exactly, you can scheme things to help the tackles. If your interior line is getting blown up, you're screwed.

I think that's right.

We're going to be mentally much tougher, and Enos will have enough resources (READ: Excellent TE's and a blitz savvy TB in DJ), where he can protect his OL pretty well. That will go a long way to making us better on offense.

We don't need (and shouldn't expect) an OL like the '73 Dolphins had, but it needs to be better than last year, and I think it will be.
