Sounds like CMR will start the best regardless who they were recruited by.

Let's do it baby. Defense needs to help the team out, and the offensive weapons need to help him out so we can body this season.

I think this benefit Perry... That announcemet was a 1000 lb weight lifted from his chest... now he can focus on being the best he can be...

Congrats to Malik! I was in the starting Perry camp, but given the reports and stats out of camp, Rosier stepped up once there was legit competition. Go beat FSU!

It was Perry who lit the fire under the vets, both Evan and Malik, so in some regard he's already made us miles better at the QB position.

Good perspective and great to hear. Perry needs a semester under his belt, ball out in the spring and come what may this time next year. Ideal is for Perry to be the starter next year and for Rosier to be the very capable backup.

Yup. Think it will benefit the entire team in a big way. Amazing how well Rosier has progressed since spring. Seems like he committed himself completely and it paid off. Now we can fully develop Perry the right way and our team can finally rally behind Malik.

for as much as everyone (included me) wanted n'kosi to win the job, a true freshman QB starting game 1 is just incredibly rare. jacob eason -- a much higher rated QB than n'kosi -- was in a similar situation last year (greyson lambert is way worse than rosier actually) and didn't start. we all know about jameis, deshaun, etc. shea patterson, sam darnold were all eased in. you can go down the list.

and those teams that are led by freshman QBs (ucla/josh rosen, texas/shane buechele, miami/brad kaaya...) experience the sort of growing pains we want to avoid with the kind of defense and skill position talent we have.

do wonder tho if people inside the program will regret not having made recruiting brad to come back more of a priority tho...

Totally fine with this, I still expect us to win the coastal with Rosier. IMO he has a higher floor than Perry would as a true freshman.

Do we expect him to run at all? All we said last season was that Richt was only showing pieces of playbook in the first few games, when in reality it turned out, we had very offensive playcalling. Will Malik mix it up?

Once Allison left, the smart money was on Rosier simply because of experience. But it also sounds like he went out and won the job, and didn't just have it handed to him by default. That's a real good thing. It's sounds like both him and Evan were a lot better in fall camp than they were in the spring. Now let's go out and win some games.
