Question... with Baker are we supposed to believe that the defense is in...

Huff was allowed to take practice reps last year or no?

I’m sure it will take him until December to, “Adjust,” to the offense.

It’s pretty clear that the LB play and depth will be an issue , how big of an issue remains to be seen

but I wouldn’t jump to say that we’ll have a bad D because of it . We still have a vet in McCloud there to ease the blow, don’t forget who we have at DE , at DT and CB we have solid starters and up and coming back ups, Hall Bolden an Carter at S

I don’t see a bad defense because of the LB situation but we will have some struggles with heavy passing teams

Side note... we live (Miami) in probably North America's best area for soccer talent and haven't been able to get a punter/place kicker that's worth a fvck. Had to go to Australia to finally get a winner.

I don't know how far back you are talking but we've had a run of very good kickers and punters pre-richt

As usual the massive overreactions and scorching hot takes from some on here about Huff are growing at an exponentially ridiculous rate.

This is literally his first full camp with the team. Last season he wasn't even cleared for admission until the end of fall camp. No spring ball and virtually no time prior to the season He arrived when the teaching is far less and the prep for the Turds was far more prevalent.

He has all the tools. Baker said he has great instincts and is a great athlete. He just has to learn the defense in this kind of environment, not in the incredibly restricted time they have during the days between games.

Without sarcasm, have Steed or Jennings ever been healthy at Miami? I feel like Steed got injured right when he arrived but Jennings I can't remember participating in anything at any point.
They both had serious injuries. It's a lot to overcome. I would be amazed if they make it back.

I'm talking more recently but I'm getting a little senile so please remind me who was our last great kicker. Thanks.

Jennings was actually coming along fine and seemed in line to get PT last season. He was having a good spring and think he got hurt in spring in a scrimmage on last drive or something, at time it was just lower extremity but I guess he got the lingard variety where they make it seem like he will bounce back quick but here we are a year later and he has been on shelf since..

Those are your go to responses? Baker and and LB that has 0.0% chance of being the starter in September?

I can counter that Roche and Rousseau had nearly 30 sacks and 40 TFLs combined last year. Find me two returning DE's anywhere in the country that are even in that stratosphere.

Nevermind. Mope on dude.

You can't because Roche and Rousseau are the top 2 of 3 returning DEs in sacks.

Once Brooks settled down in the bowl, he played quite well. Yes, we have 5 guys sitting out spring, but it sounds like they should be healthy by August.

Think he is talking about the players themselves. No time to wait for hand holding by the coaches you need to know your assignment and be ready for next play.

I'm sure he is. Still an indictment on him. It's his **** job to make sure they know their assignments.

have they practiced how to defend a 4th and 17 vs a tempo team?

Or a fake punt vs tempo?

Furthermore, how is Huff “learning the defense for the first time”? Was he asleep all last year?
tempo dog....its about the tempo so he gotta learn the tempo

Why the **** would you be wasting valuable practice snaps on Ragone when you need to get Huff, game ready? Paja mental!

Sadly, like last year....we aren't very far from having him take real snaps...good 'ole recruiting.

On another scary note, Baker has been at La. Tech and Arky St. and is having to get used to an up tempo offense in practice?

Sure, I get that he really means his players...but they really didn't seem to get the gap assignments correct on many occasions when they had lots of time to play call last year....I guess this will help them, but I fear giant learning curves on both sides of the ball, with more confidence that Lashlee can handle it.

Badgley. 2017

We've also had Bosher and Pat O'Donnell just off the top of my head. All three at the top at one point for their respective positions in the NFL.

Three of their caliber for one school is pretty solid. The last 3 years have been ****.

Right... Bosher was decent... with our kicking woes recently it seemed like a longer plague.
