CanesInSight caught up with one of the nation's top prospects in the class of 2028 ahead of his upcoming visit to Coral Gables. Five-star edge rusher Asher Ghioto is set to visit the University of Miami this weekend for the Hurricanes' annual Legends Camp, and he made clear just how highly he thinks of the program.

"I'm super excited about it all," Ghioto told CanesInSight. "Miami is definitely [at] the top [of my recruitment]."

The visit comes on the heels of Ghioto's recent trip to Florida, where he spent time with the Gators. He is now fully focused on his upcoming time in Coral Gables.

All four major recruiting services have Ghioto rated as a five-star prospect in the class of 2028. Per the 247Sports Composite — an industry-generated average across all major recruiting services — he currently ranks No. 12 nationally, No. 2 among edge rushers, and No. 5 in the state of Florida.

In his conversation with CanesInSight, Ghioto spoke glowingly about his relationships with Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal and defensive line coach Jason Taylor.

"My relationship with [Mario] Cristobal and [Jason Taylor] are amazing," he said.

When asked which programs are recruiting him most aggressively, the 6-foot-5, 240-pound edge rusher rattled off a list of ten schools.

"[The] schools coming the hardest [after me] are Miami, Florida, [Georgia], Oklahoma, Clemson, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Ole Miss, UCLA, [and] Ohio State," Ghioto told CanesInSight.

He currently holds a total of 58 offers, including from Clemson, Miami, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Ole Miss, UCLA, Ohio State, Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Boston College, Colorado, Florida State, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, and others.

Ghioto plays high school football at The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida. In his most recent season, he was dominant off the edge, recording 84 tackles, 35 tackles for loss, 23 sacks, one forced fumble, and one interception.

My biggest takeaway is that we have a really good shot at reeling in the top 3 players in America, Wright, Sears and the interviewed maniac. I know JT's gonna be a big reason why we get Ghioto, but do y'all really think this kid and Hetherman won't connect, psychopath to psychopath? We're a progrum, boys...

Is there any shot at him committing early?

"Asher is out of Jacksonville, Florida, where he plays high school football for The Bolles School."

Under Shannon/Golden/Diaz, if I had read that sentence in an article about a recruit, I would've dismissed it without even bothering to read the article. Oh my, how times have changed!
