Problem2

Wow our DE position will be awful. DT looks pretty good with Porter, Smith, Grimble, Pierre, Robinson if.can stay healthy and the true fresh. But I am pretty scared about defensive end, will be weakest position on team.

Yeah Vernon bailing screwed us pretty bad. Because of our depth issues on the DL, I fully expect to see a lot more 3-4 looks next year. Pierre and Grimble can still be effective sliding outside as 3-4 DE's IMO. MDO seems to value versatility with his front 7. Williams (and McCord, but who knows when he will be ready to contribute) seems to be a natural fit physically for a hybrid DE/OLB pass rush specialist.

For our base D I think we could see a starting lineup of Chickillo, Porter, Plug, and probably Shayon Green.

ouch. another shannon special getting significant burn. we will struggle to get pressure with the front 4 once again.

wonder what's the plan for McCord, I would image he will be able to gain a few pounds before he enrolls during the summer, like Chick did last year. who are the other DE, other than Green and Chick?

Grimble and pierre at 300 is huge. We will actually have some depth at DT.

Great news, we need those guys to make a huge leap on the field as well.

Surprising #'s on the weight gains. I'm very excited to see what coach D rolls out on defense this year. Between the 1,000,000 new DB's and the lack of natural DE's it's going to take a creative mind to have our defense playing solid football. Lets just hope he can have them on top of their game earlier than later.

This is all good news but just remember we will see weight drop once the conditioning really sets in. It's easy to pack on weight when all you are doing is eating and lifting.

These early #'s never mean anything, but I am a bit more optimistic with a coach so dedicated to being bigger and stronger.

learn em up, jhall

Canes Fans in March: "Dude we look HUGE, we gonna break fools! Swasey is back!!"

Canes Fans in November: "We getting our **** pushed in....AGAIN! Fire Swasey!!!"

We needed Williams and McDougle type signings in this class

Even if they lose 10-15 pounds; Grimble and Pierre at 280 is plenty at DT.

DT looks like a nice rotation with Porter, Smith, Grimble, Pierre, Robinson (?). Hopefully one of the young kids Smith, Briscoe, Ivery, Moore is the real deal.
DE look scary as ****: Chick, Green, Williams and then the young guys Hamilton, O'Donnell, McCord, Hoilett.

It will be interesting to see how they piece the DE position together.

FWIW, I hope Rodgers is beast-moding because S and DE are the scariest positions on the team.

I have no faith in Rodgers, I will never forget how he just watched that FSU WR catch that TD. I think Dyron Dye needs to move back to DE and prob Perry also.

FWIW I dont think the DTs will drop down that much. They may even get bigger though I am not sure how big Grimble can go.

I could go on for a week about this topic but basically all I was getting at was their weight at this point is meaningless. There's a major positive change that is happening with our roster, even if the stars and rankings dont show the whole story.

I love what we are doing recruiting more physically ready kids in high school. Its going to pay off huge.

It seems like a 3-4 would be better for our defense

move perry back.................

dye looked real good as our blocking te.........richard gordon role.
