Miami loses offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch to Jags

The Miami Hurricanes football staff is changing again.

Second-year offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch is leaving for the same job at the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Sun Sentinel confirmed Saturday morning. ESPN first reported the move.

Fisch becomes the second staff departure since the end of the 2012 season. Wide receivers coach George McDonald left in mid-December for a job at Arkansas, but was named Syracuse's offensive coordinator next week.

Former FIU coach Mario Cristobal was hired to replace McDonald's vacancy earlier this month.

Fisch returns to the NFL where he coached previously. He came to Coral Gables after a season as the Seattle Seahawks quarterbacks coach. He's also worked for the Ravens, Broncos and Texans in previous stops.

What a douche bag. Yes total selfish and homer statement. I understand you must look out for yourself. But Golden gave him his break. He was an assistant without real play calling experience. People knew of him, that he could be a good one, etc... But no one went out on a limb an hired him as an OC. To bail this fast to me is like stabbing Golden and the program on the back.
Horrible news.

Seriously?

Not surprised by this at all. I said at the end of the season that this guy is the dude I thought would be the surprise exit prior to next season because he's parapetetic, and we always seem to have a surprise departure.

Sucks that Morris has to learn another new system. That's the part that really sucks. We can't get a flow going. Might be time to get away from the young NFL assistant model when it comes to hiring corches. They are always in hardcore climb mode.

If Dana Bible didn't hook on with anyone I'd give that gray beard a call. Lots of experience and a very good play caller.

First off, never trust a filthy rat gator.

Why can't somebody come take our NoD coach? Thats right, he sux! Damnit Mane!

My god, get a grip. Jed Fisch is leaving not Bill Walsh. This will have zero impact on Olsen. If I'm Collins, Fisch leaving would be a positive as he seemed incapable of committing to the run. I'm more concerned with the continuity we lose with both Fisch and McDonald gone. There are a lot of interesting names out there including Mike Groh.

I wonder how George McDonald feels about this. He likely would've been handed the keys to the O.

That's the downside to being a short sighted impatient climber. Sometimes, it backfires. Anyone smart could have seen this gator was not a long term guy here.

He was the OC at Minnesota.

I would have given Fisch until next yr to go, but good coaches get promoted. It's every coaches dream to make it to the Big League. We will OK .... Golden will get it done. I feel bad Morris bc he was really coming along good.

I'm sure Golden and co. knew this was forthcoming and have planned accordingly for it. It's not like they were shellshocked by the news, I'm sure they'll know how to handle the recruits, especially those visiting right now.

This isn't the end of the world. It definitely has the potential to really hurt. Just so deflating. Coach Golden and this program just cannot catch a dam break. McDonald would be a plus if he came back but I doubt that happening. I have faith in coach Golden. He has had great hires thus far but it is late in the process to get your top choices. Jeremy Bates hasn't done much for me to be excited to get him. Hope there are better options. Dorsey as QB coach seems good but he isn't ready for OC job. Really disappointing news.

Positive is that Golden will be face to face with Olsen and Collins today to reassure them that the right man will be hired. When you are face to face with AG, you BELIEVE.
