Of all positions to coach RB honestly is the easiest. RBs have the gifts that make the successful or they don't. You coach things like switching hands, ball placement, blocking, and technical things like that, but the GIFTS a RB possess honestly can't be taught. I think he'll do just fine.

It could be a solid hire just because of the fact it's Golden choice. Not a home run hire in my opinion.

Dont have a opinion on this hire per se but man our offensive staff took a hit this offseason...

No one can definitively say we upgraded on any of the replacements

Besides him being a former Cane and a DB coach at FIU, there is literally nothing to judge this hire off of.

I'll trust Golden though.

Hurlie Brown does many things in the community and is great with the SFL coaches trust me Miami needs him here..

But then, I don't believe it yet until it is on the front page of CaneSports........:D

I wonder what happened with Lockette. But who are we to question golden. Congrats hurlie

it doesnt matter who coaches RB's that's where you put one of your best recruiters the staff must have felt he would be better suited for actually going into recruits homes

Lockette would be ideal for Brown's old spot. Maybe that is what he was interviewing for all along.

When the heck did it become hard to coach RBs?

It's a huge lifestyle change to go from a high school coach to a college coach. With a young family he may not have been willing to completely give his life over to being an assistant (and more or less not see his family). Still could be a very beneficial relationship for the Canes for recruiting staying right where he is.
