"James Coley (born April 14, 1973, in Miami, Florida) is an American college football coach who currently is the offensive coordinator and tight ends coach at the University of Miami, having filled the same role at Florida State University previously."

We've got more TE corches than any staff in the history of football.

And our head corch was a tight end in college.

Jimbo Fisher's offseason in a one act play:

As he clutched his bleeding wound, Jimbo couldn't help but wonder how it had all gone downhill so quickly.

It seemed yesterday he was on top of the world. And now, he was on his back.

He labored to breathe as he looked at his fingers, stained with red.

They were sticky.

The air above him was filled with smoke.

The end hung over him.

He reflected upon the last few weeks. His consigliere? Gone. His top lieutenants? Gone. Even his young recruits had abandoned him at this point.

As he lay there, he only had one last question. He tried to summon his strongest voice, but even that seemed to have betrayed him.

"Why?" he whimpered.

Al Golden crouched down and bent at the knees. He placed the cigarette in Jimbo's mouth.

As he stood back up, Golden never broke eye contact.

He let the silence linger for a moment as Jimbo drew in on the cigarette.

"Because it's my turn now," Golden replied, cold as the gun in his hand, and just as unforgiving.

All Jimbo saw was a flash of light as Golden pulled the trigger.

Would rep if I could

I guess I am in the skeptical side on this one.

No real QB coach, no real coordinator.

Thoughts?

I'm a little skeptical about Coley as an OC, but I'm not closed off to him at all in that role. I, however, am concerned that we don't have a legit QB corch. This is shaping up a little bit like there's going to be someone else leaving and that that person will be replaced by a legit QB corch. My guess is they're thinking Barrow might get a couple years of vacation and they'll just have Duh' corch the LBs.

They cant get rid of Barrow. Not for nothing, but this staff has gone from mostly black, to mostly white in a very short time frame. That kind of thing is not going to escape the attention of many local coaches. Barrow is a HUGE asset and tie to the community and many of the local schools and coaches. Hes one of our best recruiters. Many of these kids from SoFla come from poor, black inner city areas, they needs coaches that they can relate to, that's why Charlie Strong and Hurtt were doing so much business down here, its how Shannon got many local kids. Barrow is an icon in SoFla, and he's a huge recruiter for us, I dont think he's going anywhere. If anyone HAS to go, Id say its Kehoe. I can definitely dig them finding a ceremonial AD job for him. He's old as sh*t, and he loves the U. No reason they cant move him "upstairs" so to speak, slilde Mario to OL, and bring in a good QB coach.

The buildup to next year's game with FSU is going to be huge.

Ummmm no ones going anywhere. This whole hes white or black thing is nonsense. uM is back be happy and enjoy the ride, AG hires great recruiters period. No one cares that most are white, look at Saban or Jimbos classes they had more white coaches on the staff so what. If u can coach and your skin is red no one cares how u look.

UM would never voluntarily get rid of Barrow. That's why I said a couple year vacation.

Stephen Morris' continued growth next season is going to single most important player development storyline that will directly affect W's and L's. That's the one area that is a total unknown with Coley taking the reigns of the offense. That being the case, I wouldn't be shocked to see Carroll or Kehoe move on after NSD opening up a spot for a WR/QB coach (or passing game coordinator type position) and while being backfilled by Cristobal.

Kehoe seems less likely to me because he has done well with the OL and would never leave on his own. Carroll meanwhile seems to have been marginalized with 2 other prominent recruiting coordinators being brought on, both with bigger titles (asst HC and OC).

Is the writing on the wall since he's the guy being moved around to accomodate bigger fish?

I agree Barrow shouldn't go but you're overstating the racial composition change. McDonald (black) was replaced by Cristobal (hispanic). Fisch (white) by Coley (white). Where's this big shift?

Randy's last staff included white coordinators, a Stoutland, Cassano, Panunzio, Petri, plus Barrow, McGriff and Hill. AG has Richardson, Franklin, Williams and Barrow. Not only isn't that a sea change, it's not any change. Counting AG and Randy, it's pretty much the same mix.

Dunno if anyone would really classify Coley as Cuban despite his half-Cuban genetics. Ain't no such thing as halfway Cubans.

That sucker is full blown Cuban (in his behavior), his GA made him Cuban coffe every day before practice.

Dude, what are you talking about? The racial composition of the staff doesn't matter. What matters is whether they're competent or not.

Also, it's factually incorrect. We have 3 black coaches on staff. Plus, Swasey is head of S&C and our director of football operations (Hurlie Brown) is also black. So there are 5 blacks at prominent positions w/in the football staff.
