what kind of message do you send to all the other kids on the team if you pay one guy that much more than them? at some point, it plays a factor.

just make sure if you do, you know the kid will put his body on the line for his team like beck has.
“Plug and play starting quarterbacks are the most expensive position in the sport at any level. You play football, get used to it”

Man, if my son were a tier one QB, I’d tell every school the first one to get me a membership to Seminole Golf Club has him locked up for $1 per annum.

That might work for You, but do you think Junior would agree to those terms?

Problem is Simpson unlikely to be a first rounder even if he is qb2
Even if he doesn't go top 5, where Moore would, he could still go later R1 to a QB needy team like Miami or Pittsburgh (who has nothing after Rodgers leaves), or a bad team like the Jets/Cardinals/Browns who trade up from early R2 to late R1 to secure their guy and get the 5th year option on the contract. QB needy NFL teams are impulsive.

In the last 20 years, there's only been 2 years where only 1 QB went R1.....2013 and 2022.

This gonna push Leavitt hand quicker wonder if the staff is okay taking first one that bites or they’ll play it aiming towards Simpson and Leavitt as fallback

This sounds like something Tenn put out there to make teams pay more for Levitt…

That has zero impact on anything. This kid is a depth piece wherever he goes.
I know but LSU is taking 2

That kid is backing up Leavitt or Longstreet

Longstreet already redshirted so they aren’t getting Longstreet and Leavitt

They wee expecting 2 QB commits in the next day or two… this was the first

Correct. They either get Longstreet and Clark or Leavitt and Clark. They aren’t going for leavitt and Longstreet.

Where does Leavitt end up if....

Miami gets Simpson
LSU gets USC QB + ELON QB
Oregon gets Raiola
Tenn sticks with another year of Aguilar

What’s the ceiling here with these QBs. $6.5m is absurd.
That’s my only concern. If there is truly a salary cap we need to be some what judicious with spending, need other positions as well. With that said qb is the #1 need and may have to overpay.

Can’t see how Aguilar would get another year

Report earlier said they were expecting to be denied

another positive of landing your QB early, is if you don’t spend your entire planned budget, we could have diverted those resources towards other high end players
IMO, he’s not worth more than $3.5 due to that foot injury but considering the possible alternative of Emory if no Simpson, I’ll pay $5.

This is the issue when we leave the QB position for last especially when so many other QBs are already gone. You are left with desperation and bad options.
