Arizona State QB Transfer Sam Leavitt Signing With LSU

As reported by ESPN, the top quarterback in the transfer portal, Sam Leavitt, is reportedly signing with Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers after visiting several other schools.

The news came from ESPN's Pete Thamel, who mentioned on Monday morning that Sam Leavitt is likely to choose the LSU Tigers over other schools like Miami, Kentucky, and Tennessee, where he also took visits.

During the 2024 season at Arizona State, he passed for more than 2,800 yards, threw 24 touchdowns with just six interceptions, and added over 400 rushing yards along with five rushing touchdowns. Even though his 2025 season was cut short by injuries, Leavitt remained effective. He threw for over 1,600 yards, completed 10 touchdown passes with only three interceptions, and rushed for an additional 300 yards and five touchdowns.

Now, Miami will need to focus on finding a new quarterback. Whoever they target, they will likely pursue hard after missing out on the top quarterback.

This situation is disappointing... But we’ll see who steps up next.

Everything you said is speculation. This year we had a clear advantage on both lines of scrimmage on paper and in real games and in experience.

Next year we’ll see. On paper, sure but let’s see it in actual games.

I could see a step back but losing 3 or more is now unacceptable especially with another high end portal qb.

You seen nick at practice ? He looked like he had a nice arm throwing bombs on American heritage . We’ll see who wins out if your boy is good as you say that will be a good thing for us . He just looks small right now .

We’re not losing 3 next year regardless . One thing I noticed Mario stacked talent so It will be a reload year . We should be loaded in the trenches next year too . Bring in a few players we should be just as good as this team esp if Motten comes back

Now a step back for us is a generational oline for FSU

Yes, Sam Leavitt was raised a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), often called the Mormon church, and his father also played football at BYU (a Mormon university)

That’s sad. I guess if you make the night you’ll get to see I’m right down the road. Right now I’m focused on who the QB will be in 26. It won’t be either. Coleman has it! Guess we will see in the future.
