Arizona State QB Transfer Sam Leavitt Signing With LSU

As reported by ESPN, the top quarterback in the transfer portal, Sam Leavitt, is reportedly signing with Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers after visiting several other schools.

The news came from ESPN's Pete Thamel, who mentioned on Monday morning that Sam Leavitt is likely to choose the LSU Tigers over other schools like Miami, Kentucky, and Tennessee, where he also took visits.

During the 2024 season at Arizona State, he passed for more than 2,800 yards, threw 24 touchdowns with just six interceptions, and added over 400 rushing yards along with five rushing touchdowns. Even though his 2025 season was cut short by injuries, Leavitt remained effective. He threw for over 1,600 yards, completed 10 touchdown passes with only three interceptions, and rushed for an additional 300 yards and five touchdowns.

Now, Miami will need to focus on finding a new quarterback. Whoever they target, they will likely pursue hard after missing out on the top quarterback.

This situation is disappointing... But we’ll see who steps up next.

LSU expects to be in the playoffs next season. Look at what they have done in the portal again, except at QB. Kiffin himself blew this and they already know it. They are praying for the rabbit out of the hat like we got with Beck. I have been laughing at these people willing to do or say anything with no morals or decency like it's politics to support Lane. Wait they think they're a playoff team next year?

They're not going to be able to run the ball, and Longstreet going to be running for his life. Their RB room is Harlem Berry + the 2 bums Lane got in the portal. I believe they lost 7-8 OL (from a terrible unit) to the portal and have just 2 OL portal commitments so far.

Next season is a rebuilding year anyway so I would give the young guys some run, and hoard money for a potential run in 2027. Maybe you could get Raiola at a discount, but that doesn't seem to be the plan. I know the transfer portal/NIL theoretically eliminates rebuilding years, but look at Michigan the year after their run, sometimes they are needed.
