No way Trent Harris is his ceiling lol! U had a good argument, no need to reach.

From his interview U can tell he is getting the cold shoulder and is down about it.

I know how he could get his offer tho. Ask Coach Kool for a private workout in front of Richt, and request that they allow him to face the entire Canes o-line individually in the best of five 1 vs 1 drills like we see at these camps, but with full pads on instead. If he wins or their impressed, then he gets his offer period lol.

You'd think Canes fans would be over coach worship by now due to bad experience. No coach is infallible or above critique.

This isn't about 1 on 1's. The LB's we're recruiting like Wilder and Sherwood and smaller type run and strike LB's. You can't stack LB's like that behind undersized DL's. You can't rely on 6'2" 220lbs to set the edge in an attacking defense. The kid doesn't fit as a Plan A recruit.

Deandre Wilder runs a f**king 11.53 100 meter.

That is why he is on the roster.

That is outrunning WR's.

Chatfield can barley outrun a 325 pound offensive tackle.

Kool doesn't have a mold because look at Shane Rey and Michael Sam, if the kid can ball then coach Kool will work

Chatfield probably is Trent Harris with way better pass rushing ability. I wouldn't mind him in the class but I also think they need to see more of him before making a decision.

Trent Harris with way better pass rushing skills is an All-ACC player. I agree that the staff justifiably needs to see more.m

If anything I'd compare him to Harley in that only way he is in this class is if we miss out on a few other guys ahead of him, and we don't offer him until his senior yr is over and we have another yr of tape to grade him on. We might offer him around December if he has another great yr - or we might not.

But he isn't on the top of our board.

He's the best pass rushing de in Florida not named Xavier Thomas

Chatfield outran opposing QBs 24 times last year.

Mike Smith did it 18 times he barely sniffs the field and got passed up by three true freshmen. There's kids like this every year in SFL. HS stats don't translate to college like measurables do.

UM lands '14 commitment from Miami Northwestern sack master Mike Smith | Eye on the U

Just for reference i'll remind you of the overall talent on that defense. Kid had a lot of opportunities for sacks with those DB's locking people down.

5* star Tyson Campbell CB/S
4* star Marco Wilson CB UF
5* Star Patrick Surtain CB
3* Nesta Silvera DT UM
3* James Houson LB UF
3* Willie Hampton LB Nebraska
3* George Ellis DT TCU

Trent Harris never looked as explosive as this kid. He's a natural pass rusher.

Oh and I'm lmao at tripping about a de's 40. That's too funny.

This kid has short area explosiveness , that's what it's all about.

Chatfields upside is Trent Harris.

His downside is Mike Smith.

6'2" 215 kids that can't run under 5 flat won't be recruited to play DE on this team. Sorry, just not happening.

Nice stats from the kid but what do you expect playing next to a monster like Nesta Silvera who attracts a double team every play.

Kool wants 6'5" frames that run 4.75.

Jon Garvin
Deonte Johnson
Joe Jackson

Stop with the Chatfield nonsense.

I see 1-2 DE's in this class. Focus on Greg Rousseau and James Head.

--------------------

you nailed it.

the kid is a fine player, but riddle me this: in a year where we absolutely take no more than 2 DE's, out of all the kids we are recruiting, do you really want him to be one of the two?

don't think so.

He was also under 180 pounds

Greg Rousseau is like 6'5 and 205 pds...

Then you attest his stats to Nesta Silvera getting doubled?. Negative..Chatfield was getting off when Brian Burns was on one side...and Nesta Silvera was on the sideline eating hot dogs when the denfese played. I dont think he has the fram Kul looks for...but Kul has had kids with his size and skill set previously at Mizzou.

The guys listed above dont have the frame Kul looks for...and arent close to the ability that Chatfield has

The " gurus " around here have found the Kul mold. Somebody should notify him of this mold.

to be honest Chatfield stood out more than all the guys listed when watching Heritage. Houston didnt play last year...Marco wasnt some ace...No one was afraid of Surtain....Nesta didnt have a name as a dl as he played guard the year before. As a sophomore Chatfield stood out on a loaded d...with a kid that was all acc at fsu currently..he looked just as good as that kid

All i'm saying is the kid right now, today, is a plan B recruit. I wouldn't be dissapointed if he ended up in this class but i think the staff prefers bigger DE's and is trying to really hit a homerun with this class since it seems to be our "first year bump". I'm not so much concerned with his size it's his size combined with his measureables that are worrisome. What happens if he packs on 25lbs for college do those #'s get worse? That's why i think the staff is correct in waiting to see more before offering.

6'2" 215
5.01 40 yd
4.58 20 yd

Except Xavier Thomas is from South Cak so you believe he is the best pass rusher in Florida, interesting. I believe #s are preventing his offer at the moment. We have others higher on the board
