Miami’s Alex Sosa earned ACC Player of the Week honors after leading the Hurricanes to a series win over Louisville at Mark Light Field, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Sosa put together an incredible weekend at the plate, batting .692 (9-for-13) with two doubles, three home runs, nine RBI and five runs scored over the three-game series. He finished the weekend with a 1.385 slugging percentage and reached base at a .733 clip.
The junior picked up at least one hit in every game against the Cardinals and delivered his biggest performance in Saturday’s series finale as the Viera, Fla., native went 4-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI as Miami secured a 10-8 win to take the series.
Since transferring to Miami from NC State ahead of the 2026 season, Sosa is batting .342 with a team-leading 15 home runs, 62 RBI, 55 runs scored and 63 hits across 50 games, while posting a .685 slugging percentage and 1.145 OPS.
Sosa became the fourth Hurricane to earn ACC Player of the Week honors this season, joining Derek Williams, Dylan Dubovik and Jake Ogden. The recognition also marks the first weekly conference honor of Sosa’s career.
Miami heads to Tallahassee, Fla., this week for its final regular-season series, opening a three-game set against Florida State on Thursday at 6 p.m. on ACCNX and WVUM 90.5 FM.
