Agreed for sure but his injury had a lot to do with it. Put on a lot of weight and lost a lot of twitch. Fully regained it the next offseason with revamped training regimen. Self-admitted to NFL teams in interviews that he got lazy and complacent when he was out.
Not sure he would have helped himself much at DE in 2024.

Going from 290 to 270 helped it a lot.
Training staff and S&C here have come a long way. The type of creatures we recruit might have a lot to do with it but there’s been some impressive bounce back and transformations.

Caleb Downs is average on any field!! There was a DB “guru” from this very site who was posting and praising practice plays of Downs’ last week attempting to play press coverage. Downs didn’t even bother to put the WR on his can on not one, but two attempts, during the SAME route. Then, due to an under thrown ball, he was praised for a PBU. Kid is soft! Would never see the field in my defense.

Yep timing in life is everything. Guidry was certainly at UM before the talent level took a jump to being really good to great at pretty much every position. But Guidry just didn’t make the most of what he has, as opposed to Dawson who got as much as he could out of TVD as possible.
But yeah Guidry must have been in pain. Until drink number 4. Then he was OK.
