What a fun night for Hurricanes fans. After a somewhat sloppy first 10 minutes, Miami caught fire from the field, highlighted by five Hurricanes finishing in double figures.
Leading the charge was senior center Malik Reneau, who poured in 22 points. Veteran Tru Washington added 17 points, while freshman forward Shelton Henderson also scored 17. Tre Donaldson contributed 14 points, and Timotej Malovec chipped in 12 points.
Miami started slowly, struggling with turnovers and missing several early shots, but the Hurricanes quickly found their rhythm. A scoring run midway through the first half allowed Miami to build a lead that Stetson could never overcome.
Malik Reneau missed a few early shots but eventually found his groove and led the Hurricanes in scoring. Donaldson, coming off the bench after a minor injury, played exceptionally well, while Dante Allen, also off the bench, contributed eight points and made a impact on the defensive end, turning stops into points.
Tru Washington remains the best defender for the Hurricanes, and with his double-digit scoring tonight, I believe he's also one of Miami's most reliable shooters on the team.
As a team, Miami shot 56.7 percent from the field, 8-23 (34.8 percent) from beyond the arc, and 18-26 (69.2 percent) from the free throw line. Miami dominated the battle on the glass 45-31 and scored 21 more points off of turnovers than the Hatters.
