Because it's becoming clear we dont want to go to war for recruits. We just want kids that want to be Canes. Problem is some of these kids seem to want to be Canes more than the coaches want to fight for them which is sad.[/QUOTE
If that comment isnt telling of Richts confidence in Rumph n Banda idk wat is. We are getting beaten repeatedly in our own backyard.

Yea that's all well and good if we are recruiting other targets but we aren't.

Also another thing is we dont have salesmen and closer other than Banda on the defensive staff and that's because he used to work in Sales and was a Bartender. It's like they throw their hands up an quit the moment a prospect has multiple options. The prospects that we are recruiting today never saw a successful Miami program like we did. All they have rely upon is YouTube and stories from family.

This is what happens when you hire a grad assistant and a high school coach to coach DB's.

We hired one of the most accomplished DL coaches in college football and 4 and 5 star DTs weren't rushing to sign on the dotted line. We hired a less accomplished coach and he's all set to bring in that 4-star DE Harris out of Georgia. All the crystal balls are saying Miami. Harris takes a final trip to Bama, where are crappy recruiting former DL is now and all of a sudden Harris is going to Bama. Experienced coaches or inexperienced coaches. It doesn't matter. Shuffling coaches won't change a thing.

Well we'll just have to agree to disagree. We don't have 4 and 5 star DT's every year in South Florida. But we will always have 4 and 5 star DB's in South Florida and it's JMO that we should've hired someone with experience to coach DB's.

You're making no sense. They recruited Jobe until the bitter end. Even when people knew he wasn't coming. They recruited Campbell and Surtain when for quite a while that was trending the other way.

Some of you will realize at some point Miami won't "stack chips" just by recruiting hard. We're not playing the same game as other schools. It fits that talking about getting really good players over and over to commit has a money reference like stacking chips attached to it. We mostly depend on love for your city, nostalgia and pro tradition. When one of those isn't overwhelming in our favor it becomes an uphill battle.

Both Surtain and Campbell said they felt the Miami fans wanted them more than the coaches.

Four 4-star DBs committed in the last cycle. Two 4-star DBs are currently committed in this one.

I'm sure the coaches weren't licking their scrotums on social media everyday like the fans were but if you really believe it was simply a matter of not being wanted enough then you're choosing to believe a lie that tries to soften the blow of both of them deciding to leave the local school hanging.

So your point is Miami is lazy or not putting the right amount of effort in recruiting? I find this hard to believe.

I would normally agree with you, but considering the reports about how lazy Kool was before he left it makes me think sometimes CMR is not running tight of a ship as some of you think

What I know is he has genuine interest in Miami but why go somewhere that barely speaks to you and the only time they speak to you is when you reach out. All the same time you see the same staff bending over backwards for Battle. Richt and the staff has already built a reputation of prioritizing Tri-County kids over everyone else. Is there isnt a Tri-County kid who is of equal or better talent then and only then do they go outside their borders.

I'll tell you this, If Gant was prioritized just as much as Battle, he is probably a Cane right now. The only reason why FSU has a leg up is they made him feel he is a priority not a second or third option like the Miami staff has.

Do you know Gant?
Where did you get this information?
I'm just trying to see if you actually have legit information or if these is just opinions.

I wouldnt say laziness but there is a level of complacency when it comes to our recruiting.

I know his cousin is who was once committed to Richt at UGA but ended up at Marshall because of Academics.

This is the last time I am posting about who I know and speak with.

Thanks for the updates, but doesn't it seem like you kinda answered Gant's question? He is obv not that high on their list?

Fair enough.
A lot people pass options as information just wanted to be be sure.

Honestly our entire recruiting philosophy needs to be changed. It's been either commit now or we moving on. Its July, we need to calm down with that **** before we end up with Plan B and C kids with a few local Plan A kid who would come to Miami no matter who the coach is.

Man why couldn't Richt have just hired you instead of the morons we have for coaches?

You boys are trippin....we still talking about Campbell and Surtain. If they wanted to be here they would be. After a while when you chasing 10 and she playing you but you got 7's, 8's and 9's that are down for the cause. You get what you get. Nothing wrong with that

If FSU was the "For sure Team" he would've committed already. Recruiting leaders can change everyday it's the staff good to convince this Baller UM is the best fit. We slow play Battle, and want to chase him after OSU made him fall in love. We slow play Davis... We slow play Elam... Now we're slow playing Gant... I wonder does MR wantto win the big game. You need big time players to win big games period. Sign up Gant, and let the best Man win. If the best Man gets hurt next man up.

But Drewny said they made Battle a priority over Gant so how did they slow play him?

We don't get this guy, Elam, TS, or Davis, recruiting at this position is an abject failure. I I don't believe in Dent, but you can toss his name in there as well.

Whatever, out of my hands and I hope we kill trams this year as it's apparent just being good isn't good enough with this staff recruiting.
