This North Carolina surge makes no sense... They weren't even a winning team last year and mack Brown is like 70 years old and somehow is pulling in top recruits left and right
That’s how that area works. Give those kids a reason to be optimistic about staying local and they will. ALL of the commits are either in state or bordering. They claim they’ll get Pryor this Wednesday

Very slow feet and already weighs 285 pounds his junior year of high school. Those kind of guys usually don’t have as much potential and just dominate high school because there much bigger.
Agreed. He even acknowledges he’s not the most athletic kid on the field. That’s not a good start when he isn’t in a hotbed of high school football.

One day people will realize that there is no connection between winning and an uptick in recruiting. Winning is at best now you maintain the uptick.

Mack Brown is elite on the trail, and went out and hired a staff largely geared towards recruiting.

Our best recruiting class recently was after a 9-4 season and during a 10-3 season

You think 9 wins locked up that class? 9 wins in college football is whatever thanks fo bowl games.

And most of that class was locked up before the season started. ****, the class got worse as the wins came. We limped to the finish line as we were winning 10 games and almost making the playoffs.
Largely because the finish on the trail was more defensive focused, and the worst recruiters on staff the last 4 years have been on the defensive side.

****, now what? Are they after anyone hard beyond Rodriguez?

A bunch of local athletes. Pryor, the top db out of Virginia and a kid named Ritzie is what I hear most. I’m cool with a lot of the N.C. hs coaches and one in particular is tight with that staff. I still think they’ll struggle to keep their class away from UGA and Clemson but we’ll see. A lot of time left

Mack landed in state QB Howell last cycle and his success and influence on other in-state kids is snowballing. They are recruiting each other. Kids love UNC. It’s not like other in state schools. They do t take every NC kid that applies. There’s still a cache to it for in-state kids. And tremendous athletic history in a few sports. These kids want to bring football to the forefront like b-ball , lacrosse etc

How did we manage to land the best class since 2008 coming off a 10+ win season, coastal division championship, and an appearance in a New Year’s Day bowl.

Cant say everyone was racing to come play with Rosier or some exciting next level offense Richt was running that year

how much of that class was locked up by September 1? Before the 10 win team ever even played a game.

Those kids saw us close out the previous season winning 5 straight and blowing out our bowl opponent. Had we struggled in 2017 best believe we would not have finished w a top class like we did. The great season was just a huge help and reassurance. Anyone saying winning isn’t important/not a factor is nuts.
