Played against him in college.
I was just coming in to say he is a big dude. so that can give you and idea on Lucas's size.

The scary thing is .....Lucas ...reminds me literally of Bryan Pata (rip) as a player.

HE IS A WANT FOR ME IN THIS CLASS...
Big time comparison because he was a real beast. RIP

Can't go wrong with Durant and Lucas as the foundation of our DT haul. And there's still a lot of cats out there that can be the icing on the cake(Lyons, Tarber, Q. Jones, Bear, etc)....

Thats my take at DT....TRY TO LAND THOSE 2...and add a nose/1 tech type like Tarbor,Jones,Bear IF POSSIBLE.

You dont land Lucas you press for Lyons.

I KNOW lUCAS WANTS TO BE A de...BUT YOU TELL HIM HE CAN BE A QB TO GET HIM HERE.

That frame and athleticism is too **** good.

He’s an oos kid and you know how that goes but Miami is definitely in play. The staff loves his size and athletic ability.
that is true and our record is abysmal, however there are city, university and cultural connections that many other OOS prospects don't and didn't have and those connections *could* parlay into landing this kid, or at least having a better shot of landing him.

Wiltfong has a great interview up on the national 247 board today. He spoke with Lucas' mother about his background and recruitment.

some highlights:

-Family lived in Coconut Creek when Anthony was young. He didn't start playing organized sports of any kind until he was 7. The first sport he tried was baseball - at his first practice he hit the ball so hard he dented his bat...
He didn't really start playing football until high school.

- His father works in cyber security and moved the family to Arizona in 2015. The assumption was he would play baseball at Chapparal HS.

“When we went to sign him up for classes some of the parents saw him and asked if he was here to play football and I said no he’s here to play baseball (catcher, third base and first base). They said ‘are you kidding, he needs to be on the team’ and they gave my number and had coach call me. He said ‘bring Anthony to practice tomorrow and we’ll talk to him about being on the team.’ It was almost August. I met the coach after practice and he’s like ‘why don’t you have him playing football.’ I said my husband is afraid he’s going to get hurt. He said ‘you mean he’s afraid to hurt the other kids.’ Oh my gosh I had to beg my husband to let him play. I finally convinced him to let him play and the rest is history.”

- His mother said that the academic part of college is more important than the football part. Lucas is interested in majoring in business or sports media & broadcasting.

-They have decided they need to take one more swing through the schools he is seriously interested in to take in a game - she notes that they would like to see 5 or 6 schools for a game. Specifically she mentions TAMU (it's close), ND, Miami, LSU, and Alabama.

- the plan is for him to be an EE so he will make a decision for Early Signing Day

Sounds like a rational approach.

OOS kid, but this comment bodes well for us. Our communications/journalism school is top 50 in the country, and our business school is usually ranked somewhere between 50-75. We're also well-regarded for sports management, if that's a potential career path of his.

That and the fact his dad went to school here and was successful based solely on academics since he didn't play football.

Reading that article it seems to be a ND (academics) and Miami (academics and legacy) battle

Which bodes even better for us considering I think someone said ND was kind of falling off in this recruitment a bit if I'm not mistaken.

Having both of my parents luckily bring able to move to America fro Jamaica just like his mom I think the importance of academics is absolutely true. A vast majority fail and have to move back home unless they have their education so for his parents sports will never be #1 and that'll be instilled in him. I think the best thing though is Miami is home for the dad and really the mom too since she went to school at Barry so hopefully the level of comfort resonates on all sides
