As one of the Miami Hurricanes’ top targets on the recruiting trail, 2022 American Heritage (FL) 4-star CB Earl Little Jr. made an appearance at UM’s premier recruiting event of the cycle, Paradise Camp, two weekends back. On a day where most of the established prospects in attendance sat out of the actual event and just came for the visit experience, Little Jr. instead laced them up and put on a strong performance in Coral Gables.

“That’s just the competitive side of me,” Little Jr. said of why he played. “I feel like I did excellent.”

At Paradise, Little Jr. got a chance to workout with Hurricanes’ DB coaches Travaris Robinson and DeMarcus Van Dyke, and he felt the same familiarity that he usually gets when working with the staffers at Heritage.

“I know everything that they taught me, it’s not like I haven’t learned this stuff already, but to hear it from a different person and another perspective was really good,” Little Jr. said of Robinson and DVD. “I feel like [Robinson and DVD] are the same type of dudes that we have down at Heritage. It’s most definitely a good thing.”

Since the dead period ended on June 1st, Little Jr. has been able to attend two other camps at Florida State and Alabama, and he talked about how Paradise stacked up to those other experiences.

“These workouts were really similar, except Alabama was more of a 1-on-1 workout,” Little Jr. said. “But Florida State and [Miami] I’d compare the same - it was the same type of camp, drills the same way, we did the same things. But I liked [Miami’s] camp more than Florida State. They had more top guys out here. The DB coaches specifically, I just like how they ran things.”

Aside from actual camps, the 6'0" 175-pound prospect has had the chance to visit many schools all over the country now that campuses are open to recruits, and pointed to a few of his favorite visits when asked which stood out.

“USC, Alabama, Oregon, Miami – those are some of the schools that I’ve been to that I’ve really liked,” Little Jr. said.

As for his official visit schedule, Little Jr. says he has set trips to Florida State (Sept. 25), LSU (Oct. 2), and Alabama (Nov. 6) in stone for this fall, while he took his first OV to USC (Jun. 11) last month. Aside from those four, Little Jr. said he is unsure if he will use his 5th official on a previously planned trip to Gainesville.

“Then there’s one more - I might take one to Florida,” Little Jr. said.

When asked if he is still considering the Hurricanes for his 5th and final OV ahead of his current plan to make his pick on early NSD in December, Little Jr. did not rule out Coral Gables as a destination.

“Yeah, most definitely,” Little Jr. said when asked if he is considering a Miami official.

As a junior in 2020 during 9 games played, Little Jr. posted 35 tackles and 2 INT’s while missing 4 games due to injury in a season that culminated in a state title for the Patriots. However, heading into his senior season at Heritage this fall, Little Jr. feels the additions the Patriots have made over the offseason has made the team stronger overall.

“We’re going to do a lot, we got all the pieces that we needed – Brandon Inniss, Santana Fleming - every single day we’re going at it,” Little Jr. said. “The offense will most definitely be better this year. We could probably add a few more (pieces), but as of right now, we’re definitely a solid team, and you guys will see what we do in the fall. It’s going to be great.”

They just ripped Gurvan and Miami on the Monday night pregame for his horrible glitch play where he decided to go for the blocker instead of the guy with the ball. We byke!!!!
😐

T-Rob got Vernon Hargreaves to sign after a 4-8 season at UF. When we say T-Rob is that dude we mean it.

Lol; bro. Hargreaves was class of 2013. He committed to UF in the summer of 2012. In 2011 (Muschamp’s 1st yr), UF went 7-6, winning The Gator Bowl. Not only did Muschamp get the 1st yr coach benefit of the doubt, but the season Hargreaves committed to UF, they went 11-2. Lol. He didn’t commit to them after the 4-8 2013 season, he was already on the team.

He got Tabor that year then on signing day…c’mon rellz. You should know better.

Thank you for verifying.

Yes, Tabor did sign after the 2013 season in which they went 4-8, but I was talking about Hargreaves since that was the QP. Lol.

Also, Brian White was ****’s lead recruiter. T-Rob was secondary. The guys T-Rob reeled in was Duke Dawson & Quincy Wilson. Dawson committed right after UF went 11-2, & Wilson committed b4 the season started, but to T-Rob’s credit, he held on to both of them.

He was on the Football Nation show last night. Some off the cliff notes I took away
  1. Earl Little Senior has a really good relationship with DVD and TRob. Yes they're still recruiting his son and he thinks highly of both of them. Says he has a really long relationship with DVD and that's his boy.
  2. Senior and his wife told DVD & Trob it's all about production and that just because his Dad went to UM does not mean JR is going to UM. UM is going to have to recruit his son just as hard as the other programs.
  3. Senior has no relationship with Manny. Manny has never even talked to him about recruiting his son (sad if true). Manny has only texted him once wishing him Happy Bday or something. Meanwhile the programs that are coming after his son the hardest (Senior mentioned Oregon, Florida, FSU, Bama and USC), he has a personal relationship with all of their HCs. Mentioned how the new USC interim coach has even hit him up already and he has better relationship with him than Manny.
  4. Also mentioned that a UM beat reporter told him off the record that the current UM staff is a bit butt hurt that the local elite SoFla kids are not signing with Miami and might be jaded in some way.
I stated the bolded awhile ago that DVD is cool with earl sr.

His son wasnt as high on the UM board and thats just obvious....most of the rest is just fluff listed. (who is recruiting him hard, relationship with Manny) The kids they really were high on parents had a relationship with Manny.

lol @ #4...NO SH-T. I dont think they are jaded on his so though and not sure if i have him in the LOCAL ELITE category

I could care less what this guy thinks about anything. It's been clear for months he wasn't sending his son to Miami. Wouldn't have mattered if Manny kissed his ***. Guy just likes attention and too many people are happy to give it to him

Sometimes the truth hurts and I’m sure this isn’t the first time Manny screwed the pooch on a recruit. We’ve had some lackluster recruiting on same need positions on D for sometime. Manny is all talk and minimal action.

Hey gogeta, you seem super plugged into this.

But curious if you ever question the logic as to why "he is NOT high on our board"? Given that so far under the Diaz era, our DB recruitment and production has been awful and a lot of big time programs want him.

And look we're really lucky to have Trob + DVD killing it this cycle. Graves, Rodgers, Feagans look like studs and help mask the loss of Earl Jr. And I agree Singletary should be higher than Junior.

But I watched Earl Sr second interview last night (I know, I know... we need to take what he says with grain of salt), and there are just so many red flags here as to why we're NOT recruiting this kid outside of what Sr says:

  1. He's at the top of Bama's board. Nick Saban's track record speaks for itself with DBs. This is not a lie. I corroborated this with my Bama friend and he said "Yea Earl Little Jr has a commitable offer and he's one of the top CBs their recruiting this cycle."
  2. He's on high UFs board. Corey Bell literally called Earl Senior during the interview (SR could be totally lying about that). And I hate the gators, but would argue they've had some DB success lately against us and have put more DBs in the draft than us lately. My UF friend told "Yea we would love to get him, but think he's going to Bama."
  3. He mentioned Mario Cristobal literally texts Earl and Earl Senior every single day (again could be a lie)... But this is the guy that 90% of the board wants as HC now, I think we would all agree runs a better program than Manny and is an outstanding recruiter.
And this is all without stating the obvious... that this kid isa high 4 star legacy kid, at a HS we've had big problems with, at a HS who we know puts studs in the league, and whose Dad is also a coach on the HS staff. It just seems really dumb to not recruit this kid just for good will sake alone at American Heritage, yet alone to completely ignore his father who is a Cane legacy just seems like HC malpractice to me.

Lmaoo for sake at American Heritage 😂😂😂😂. Bruh I don’t know about the Little Jr ****tttt but I do know that nothing can be done with that school. The fact that you even mentioned that has me questioning anything you say

I hear you man, but history would say otherwise. Look at Sabans recent SoFla DB commits
  • Jordan Battle committed 12/19/2018
  • Josh Jobe committed 12/16/2017 (he let Josh knowingly stay committed to Miami 😡)
  • Surtain committed on NSD on 2/7/2018
Even the recent 5 Star CB Kool-Aid McKinstry did not commit until late Oct last year. Watch Earls interview, he said Saban told him to "enjoy the process and take all of your OVs" and then make a decision. Apparently Mario told him the same thing.
