Laugh at me if you want! But what about offering this job to Butch ? Even if this won’t happen, Miami has tons of great football people that can fill this spot. Big loss no question.

If his only job was to do evals then Zo was way overqualified. Our portal classes were never anything to wrote home about. Still TBD on the under the radar high school evals as well.

No other program out there has potential future NFL GMs as their GM. Why the **** do we need that? Stop freaking out about this, it's not a big deal.

Our success/failure was never contingent on Zo. It's on Mario and only Mario.

So, Miami was just a place-holding spot while awaiting an NFL return? Fooled us all apparently.

Agreed.
Much ado about nothing.
With the money spent on Alonzo, it could be use for 1 or 2 rising personnel types who can assist
Mario in identifying potential prep or portal talent.
You don't need an NFL GM type for this task.
This is not meant as a criticism on Highsmith, a Cane legend who has football in his blood.
I just don't think his talent was aligned for the college game. In fact, he was overqualified.

One could argue the same thing for Alabama.
Every gig in the coaching profession is a potential place-holder until
the next gig.
There aren't too many coaching lifers these days. In fact, not sure if it's
desirable.
