Zion vs Johnson

Jordan Travis is AWFUL

Jesus Christ some of you guys are making him out to be something he’s not

The best QBs in the ACC passing wise in Armstrong/Picket scored 30 and 31 on the defense and some of you guys think he’s going to light this defense up

Secondly like another poster pointed out when’s the last time a running QB beat this defense with his legs?

Lastly their OL is still ***, this will be the game where the DL pads their stats like they’ve done every single year against FSU

Limit his scrambling and shut down the run game. They are toast if we can do that. Can we? Probably not because I am sure we will miss some tackles on those backs and they will get chunk plays. That's how FSU scores.

Yes. And when they go, they really go.

Oddly enough, FSU is 60th in the country in number of 10+ yard plays. But only 5 teams in the country have more 50+ yard scrimmage plays. They have 6 of them in 8 games (we have 3, by the way). So they've had some odd success with some really long chunk plays, but they're not very explosive overall.

Your are correct on all points.
But one of the things that we keep overlooking every week and it’s been going on for over ten years is this team’s ability to continue to play down to the competition.
We also let teams off the hook with penalties and bone head calls at the worst possible times.
We keep squeaking buy bad teams and regardless of the reasons a good team doesn’t do that consistently.

If you are constantly in a dog fight with average or bad teams then you can’t say you’re any better than the teams you’ve beaten. You can only say you win cause you have a stud qb.

When your qb has to put up Heisman numbers to barely beat average teams then what is that really telling you?

We’ve won these past few games despite our coaching and not because of it.

^Exactly. our defense could not get off the field in 3rd and longs against one of the worst third down teams in the P5, so don't assume we'll make the adjustments we could make to win in anything other than a last series nail-biter.

This is a rivalry game. Transitive property never applied to college football and especially this game. Golden should have beaten Winston and Cook FSU teams, we were leading in those games. Emotions and momentum dictate outcomes in this matchup. So our coaches and players better strap it on and take this game extremely seriously or they'll upset us.

I expect our players to rise to the occasion, but our coaches are the unknown here. I worry they'll put the kids in bad matchups.

I respect what Johnson and Thomas brings to the table but I think you guys are overstating their ability and underselling our tackles. They're both good, great in the case of Johnson, players. The strength of their D-line will be going against the strength of our O-line. We have two experienced tackles who both pass protect at an above average level. Also, in TVD I trust. F*** that bum s*** in Tally. Those our little brothers.
Kier Thomas was giving fits to the best OT in the ACC on Saturday. Jermaine Johnson is very likely a late 1st round pick. It's essentially Roche and Phillips who abused our OTs in practice last year. If we don't have a plan for them it's going to be a long day.

The NC State OT is overrated. We gave him fits too. I'm not saying that Johnson or Thomas won't have their moments on Saturday but I think you guys are giving them too much credit. Our tackles aren't JAGs who will be overwhelmed by FSU. They'll be ready to play come Saturday.

SN: I do agree that Johnson will be a 1st round pick. Kid is dominating this year.

And to that I would tell you that we are playing Florida State and not some bum **** team like Duke

I’m honestly predicting a 30+ point blowout

gotta hope that tvd can play above mannys corching
our gameplan needs to jump on them early and then force them to pass
if we do that we can win by 14 plus
if we allow them to be close and keep running
i have a bad feeling theyll grind out the win at the end of the game

He's an athlete and he's very hard to bring down and he can make big plays off broken/scramble drill plays.. and we've struggled mightily against these types. He was even a problem last year even though the game was already out of hand. He will annoy the sh*t out of you Saturday, win or lose. I guarantee it.

If we had done what I expected and blew GT out I would be confident on this game, but we didn't, because Miami. It took 3 fumbles and the O giving up 9 points for that game to be close tho.

Pitt and NCST are much better than FSU and GT is about the same level. So we have faced similar competition and prevailed.

Their O is trash, if Travis plays we shouldn't have any LBers on the field, our IDL should take care of their Running game, just don't do the stupid run upfield and watch the RB run by you play all the time.

Their defense is getting better, probably the second best TVD has faced so far, behind NCST, a screen heavy week probably.

I think we win 24-17/21-13

Can you give examples of us struggling against running QBs
