Zion Nelson

Simmer.... need to see more consistency but he did play one **** of a game in a rivalry game ON THE ROAD against FSU
He been solid the last 3 weeks..coming into the season I expected these last 4 or 5 games to be his jump in improving..same with Ford, ivey and hall..all the first year guys should be playing their best football these last 4 games..and if that continues to be the case, then hats off the coaches

Good grief, he's a true freshman playing the QB's blind side, yea he made mistakes. When's the last time you saw that? He's actually playing good now. So let's hear your your evaluation. Cause I can actually give one, but waiting on you
I'm not ****ting on him, but being surprised people were is odd considering he was literally the worst graded Power 5 OL in the country this season. Idk if he is now, but was the majority of the year. Several teams we've played had starting Freshmen too. VT starts 2 with 3 sophomores for reference. He's improved the last few weeks for sure but let's not act like he's a **** beast or something. Long, long way for him to go. Love his work ethic and attitude for sure though

Starting @ LT as a TF is much different than starting on the interior of the OL or even @ RT. LT is the most DIFFICULT position to play on the entire OL

Thanks for the tip I've never heard that before. It doesn't change the fact that he was ******* abysmal. The fact that he HAD to start there and was awful says more about where this program's OL was than him though. I'm not blaming him for struggling he was put in a very tough spot, but it doesn't change that he sucked. They don't discredit sacks because you're a Freshman

Also he was being put at a disadvantage by playcalling and blocking schemes. That's been less of an issue in recent weeks and is just as important as individual improvement to his current success.

PFF is not the be all end all. They had Jack Conklin graded as a top RT his rookie year because the Titans handled him with kid gloves and gave him a ton of help scheming around him. Conklin has been exposed as average since. PFF has no concept of context.

It's obvious that you haven't heard that tip before, because you talked about VaTech starting freshmen O-linemen without clearly specifying that they play on the INTERIOR of the O-line. Zion doesn't play in the interior. He plays LT-the MOST DIFFICULT position to play on the entire O-line. Also..it does matter whether you struggle as a TF or as an upperclassmen like Navaughn Donaldson because your ability to develop/improve lessens with age. It's not difficult to understand by the time Zion is Navaughn's age he will be a much different player than what he is currently

And change your annoying text. What is that a tracfone? Why are you the only one annoying enough to post with that every single time?

Navaughn didn't get worse. He stayed the same. Zion has already shown significant improvement from game 1 till now. Also his intangibles are also far greater than Navaughn's, which again underscores the pt of why he'll be a much different player by the time he's a JR.

So being a Freshman all American to getting benched is staying the same? What ******* world do you live in? You completely discredited your own dumbass argument by bringing up the prime example of the exact opposite happening over someone's career. You literally cancelled yourself out genius I didn't even have to. Now turn your government issues phone off I'm sure you're running out of your complimentary minutes

I can see that you're not that bright. 1st of all he made freshmen AA as a G. His sophomore yr they inserted him @ RT, and that's why he got benched. This yr he's been rotating with Campbell @ LG, due to conditioning and his poor intangibles like I already mentioned. Neither of these situations prove that he got worse from yr 1 to yr 3. Now go back to the drawing board, and try harder, because it's pretty clear that you absolutely suck at debating.

If that doesn't show a lack of improvement I'm not sure what you possibly could be looking for. There's just really nothing else to say. You were literally dumb enough to bring up the exact counter to your argument by yourself. I don't need to debate you handled it all by yourself. That's the kind of thing mentally insane people do. On their free government phones probably also. And he got benched this year. At guard. In year 3. Smfh. Do you have arguments with yourself in the mirror at your Mom's house where you live? I've never in my life read someone patting themselves on the back for destroying their own argument. In large boldfaced print for some unknown reason no less. It's pretty astonishing you are certainly one of a kind.

It appears that way because you're literally dumber than rocks. And i'm not on a phone genius, i'm on a laptop. Again..for the 1 millionth time-Navaughn did not regress from yr 1 to 3-he stayed the same. Being on the freshmen AA team means that you are only competing with other freshmen. The problem is all of his peers improved dramatically from yr 1 to 3-he did not. In fact most players improve from yr 1 to 3. He's in many ways an exception or an anomaly

If you look at most of the pro bowl OL they come from nowhere to develop into stars. These kids that are the big time recruits in HS whom have the size are good early in CFB but get passed by kids like Zion as they develop. We should be recruiting smaller OL that have potential and give them a couple years. Problem with Zion is he had to play NOW.
