Zero Sh*ts Given

That was a load of nonsense.

I'm also a "Hurricane Club member and a season ticketholder, and I read all the emails". They're doing a bunch of the crap you described. I get emails from them daily. You want them to innovate? They're aggressively rolling out NFTs, which are really cool (well, maybe not for out-of-touch boomers, which I'm guessing you are). They are also offering new payment plans, which is akin to lowering prices.

I'm pretty sure I get calls from them periodically, but like most people under 50, I don't typically answer phone calls nor check voicemails.

But the point is that none of the crap that they're doing really matters. If the team wins, fans will show up. Full stop. Complaining about the lack of a plan to increase attendance is just looking for more things to complain about. Complain about the OL or the tackling in the secondary. This is stupid.

This might just be one of the dumbest posts i've ever read on this site from someone pretending to speak knowledgeably and authoritatively.

Where does one start with your idiocy...

Oh my lord, NFTs?! Yeah, that really puts people in the seats. MOTHERFVCKING NFTs. Yeah, they're "really cool". Yes, everyone who got the "NFTs" e-mail was immediately inspired to buy more tickets.

And...payment plans? Which is "akin to lowering prices"? No, no, no. There is no "akin to lowering prices". The price of a season ticket is...exactly the same as it would have been. Except you can divide by 12 instead of by 4. Keep inventing a bunch of bullcrap.

So a few hours ago, you assured us that there "was a plan" that was happening "behind the scenes", and now you are admitting that "none of the crap that they're doing really matters".

Boy, you have really mapped out all of the possible bullcrap answers...

It is quite rare to see some genius porster make one argument in the afternoon, and then the exact opposite argument in the evening...

If you think a payment plan isn't similar to lowering prices, you should go back to UM and repeat your finance 101 class.

Also, those two concepts aren't mutually exclusive? I'm puzzled why you would think they are? Let me recap...I'm sure there is a "plan". All sales organizations make plans. Companies don't publicly announce their "plans" - they just go out and execute them. However, I personally don't believe that marketing really moves the needle for sports in South Florida, so I don't think their "plan" will work. The only thing that will get butts in the seats is winning football games...That seems like a simple and internally-consistent concept? I don't understand why you would be struggling to keep up? Although I could hazard a guess.

And re: NFTs...it's about building brand loyalty and a holistic customer experience. The next step would be to roll our customer-specific NFTs that relate directly to their stadium experience and preferences. Some innovative companies are experimenting with that type of stuff nowadays. Do I think that's a huge needle-mover for attendance? Absolutely not. The only needle-mover is winning, a basic concept most other posters seem to understand. But if you are asking for "innovation", it doesn't get more innovative in 2021 than NFTs.

But to bring it back together for you...just because I believe and have evidence that there is a "plan", doesn't mean I think it's going to work. In fact, I don't think it will. The only thing that will work is winning.

Let me know if I need to break it down again for you.

And what has been done to address it since? Can it be addressed?
No. The only well attended games have high stakes. Miami is an event based town. See the Notre Dame game for reference.

Miami isn't a true sports city. when the heat were dominant, they were sending out notices for fans to actually show up esp for big games and show up early at that. when we were good, we still wouldn't draw for the ****** games but would for big games (same as now). the dolphins attendance has suffered a lot over the years. we are never gonna get this CFB feel outside of big games no matter what the AD does or doesn't do. I don't believe the problem is the marketing or the schmoozing of the golden canes upsetting original cane, it is that Miami will never be a. true sports town in terms of attendance. I do think the canes are doing cool things to draw people to the stadium including the coors light tailgate zone, NFTs, etc. but will just never be enough. in 01, we had take your kids for free day for the crap games (troy if I remember correctly) and its still empty.

****, a lot of people would rather tailgate and watch the game from the bar rather than go inside.

I know attendance has been an issue for years... but looking around college football its hard to understand how we can ever compete with Ohio St., Alabama, Georgia, Clemson etc. when we cant sell out a home opener after Covid restrictions or pack the house 3 out of 6 games a year... maybe 70% the other 3. But what stings the most is that there seems to be zero plan to fix this AND zero sh*ts given. To me that pretty much sums up our Athletic Department... Zero Sh*ts Given.

Miami has bigger issues than attendance.

Beyond that, a little common sense and logic here—UM is a private school with about 11,000 undergrads, an off-campus stadium, in a large, metropolitan city with beaches, nightlife and pro sports options. Miami is an ENTERTAINMENT town, not a SPORTS town.

College football is literally the BIGGEST show in town in every city you just rattled off—of course their stadiums are packed. Have you been to Columbus, Tuscaloosa, Athens and Clemson? Columbus is the metropolis of the bunch—and it's still a hole—but the rest are legit one-horse towns.

Ohio State literally has 50,000 undergrads and their entire state is littered with alum and Buckeyes fans—you're shocked their stadium is packed on game day and Miami's pro stadium 20 miles up the road doesn't pack 'em in for Appalachian State?

Again, Hard Rock almost exploded for the Notre Dame game in 2017—as that was an EVENT; as is Florida State when in town for a night game.

Miami barely got 31,000 into the Orange Bowl in 2001 for a match-up against Temple when the Canes were the #1 team in the nation.

You should've be this confused as to how this whole thing works—and has always worked—for UM football.

Small private school. We need a small 45-50k intimate stadium similar to university of Colorado
Nah. A packed Hard Rock is magical. That 2017 season and false hope 2018 season home games can attest to that.

It’s a trickle down effect. Be the premier team on Saturdays and experience the premier results.

Just when I thought I had read the dumbest post ever, you manage to knock it down to "second-dumbest-post-ever" with this new one.

Congrats.

Magical yes. But can we can consistently deliver that atmosphere with the small student body in a massive pro stadium, no lol

Miami football will never be a small town event. Its for die hards with an occasional year of bandwagon excitement. It is what it is....
Never has been a small town event. I attended games in the late 60’s and 70’s when the team was an afterthought and didn’t have 4 major pro franchises to compete with.

Even with Schnelly and remember he had the Dolphins glow around him. Back then anything Dolphins had the towns attention....
