Zach Mccloud

I think its been pretty obvious that we were moving in the direction of getting rid of the SLB position from recruiting the last couple years. Wilder was really the last guy we recruited for that position and he was a fringe recruit. I like that we are going for the big, athletic cover guys like Huff and now going for Striker guys period

He's needs to expand his game. This is not a bad move for him... Pinkney, McCloud and a striker is not a bad move in 3 and 5, 6, or 7...

how is a LB thats never been instinctive or been able to work well in traffic gonna do better at Mike?

Went from considering entering the draft to possibly being redshirted? ****, life comes at you fast.

I guess jennings isn't playing well enough as backup MLB for now

How you get that from them saying he is working on the inside? Maybe its just to have more flexibility (like romeo playing some safety) maybe they want to get him on the field more now that striker is a permanent thing....

Thats like me saying I love coke and you saying so you hate pepsi, like no bih thats a whole new sentence....

Makes more sense. He was a liability at OLB due to foot speed. Chess. He does have the size to play MLB. Not sure on instincts.

For your further entertainment and edification . . .

This is really good. I'd say Mike Pinkney more than qualifies as a "space" linebacker. Although I'd say our 4-2-5 philosophy more mirrors Michigan's than TCU's. The author is essentially saying TCU runs a base nickle (with a third corner, not a striker/rover) with one true inside linebacker and a "space backer" coupled with 2 massive tackles and 2 OLB/DE types up front. Whereas Miami's version uses a third safety (striker) instead of a true nickle corner, with a traditional MIKE and more versatile and smaller WILL. They also deploy a more traditional SDE who tends to be on the bigger side with the WDE being the lighter pass rushing type. It allows Miami to match up against spread teams without sacrificing too much against the run.

I'm cool with that. Just means we need like 6 LBs and 3 Strikers on the roster.
Plus I think having Shaq and Pinkney with McCloud and Steed rotating in for them will be the ideal scenario. Then just have Finley and Derrick Smith man the Sriker position.

McClouds best football production is ahead of him I think and might not happen at Miami. Doubt he takes a RS or we try that option. If we are moving to permanent 4-2-5 base then he should move inside with pink and shaq

i think mike fits him better than playing Sam or striker did. Based on his film in highschool he was a violent hitter and active player in the middle of the defense. Haven’t seen that so far at Miami so maybe he was playing out of position
