I am of the belief that FBS and FCS teams shouldnt play each other. But I do believe that they should be able to play each other in a Preseason game setting.

There is 130 FBS programs(Sadly) and 126 FCS programs. so pretty much an even split.

We always talk about getting FCS schools money for games but at the same time we dont like when power five teams schedule FCS teams. I think the middle ground is FCS teams as a preseason game.

I've been saying this for years. You should play an FCS team in the preseason every year. Literally everything about the FBS vs FCS games as they stand now stay the exact same, except the game doesn't count and is played in August. The little schools still get paid, you still sell tickets, you still get referees, you still keep score, etc. But everyone is 0-0 at the end of the day.

In addition, you should only be allowed to play 1 FCS game that DOES count during the regular season, we should go to a 9 game conference schedule in each P5 conference (would allow you to play more schools from the other division, no reason we see Clemson or Syracuse once a decade), and the other 2 games should be played against other P5 schools.

1 Preseason vs FCS (does not count)
1 Regular Season vs FCS (does count, game can be played anytime during the year as a "mini-bye" like it is now)
2 Regular Season vs P5 out of conference
9 Regular Season Conference Games (6 vs your division, 3 vs other division)

Boom. Everyone's happy.

I like the idea of a preseason game with an FCS team. Or maybe a controlled scrimmage to limit the chance of injury.

Yup, just require the first game be the FCS opponent. People are dying for some CFB so revenue and viewership might even go up.

THERE ARE A QUITE A FEW FCS TEAMS MUCH BETTER THAN FBS TEAMS.....Not sure why their is always whining on here about them...just because you watch some sh*tty fcs teams games...but yearly they are taking down fbs teams or playing them tough..?

Way to address it maybe is get all div 1 schedules at the point where they could play an fcs team first game of the year.then the non conference games against other div 1 .before conference play starts roll out the polls.let the teams have two byweeks.one after the non conference games and one midway through the conference games.fcs schools get paid,tv gets their cut and players get a couple breaks during the season.

I understand some people not wanting to see us schedule FCS teams but to be honest having them on schedule earlier in the season, middle of the season or whatever helps identify problems and adjustments. It's not about the game in itself my Cane brothers . It's more about trying out certain schemes and to test, rest , play certain players. Think about it for a sec.... If we had played one of the FCS teams first before UF. Do you not think this wouldn't helped going into the game in Orlando? Game 1 under J.W. plus our Freshman tackles for building confidence in their techniques. (Bet I have you thinking now) lol . Besides some of these FCS schools need to build revenue. Some of the players need a chance to show case some talent vs P5 for a shot at the the NFL. Some coaches have to build their resume at FCS as well ....Cough, Cough , like our great Tight End Coach / Recruiter Stephen Field . A lot of great coaches come from these schools. I'm just a person who is all about chances in life. lol A equal opportunist!

In the near future, teams that want revenue are going to have to fill up their schedules with marquee games. Cable TV is nearly dead so the next set of big money TV contracts cant support the low ratings of a game like Alabama vs Little Sisters of the Poor. Will have to be 12 games that will good national ratings (and contrary to public perception, the rest of the country outside the SEC doesn't find Alabama to be must-see TV.) When the best teams do start scheduling 12 difficult games, maybe they will be open to a "pre-season" tuneup game.

Organized scrimmage is the way to go IMO. Miami vs FIU, USF vs FAU, UF vs West Florida, FSU vs Jacksonville, UCF vs Stetson etc.

I don't think we need an actual preseason game, but the cupcake game for FBS teams against FCS should always be week 1.
