You'll love This Projection (6-6)

Mane, I ain't trusted a ****** computer since one chose FSU to play in the 2000 NC game. 6-6 my ***.. metric theez nuts.

This computer factors in last year's game stats while subtracting what we lost to the draft. Wouldn't that method make every team in the country worse? It can't factor in coaching changes, player development, or new players.

What a flawed metric to use to predict success in football. Using data from last season under an entirely different coaching staff to predict this years performance is frankly, illogical. ****ing nerds.

The metric,by itself is totally flawed but Vegas pays attention to this.

and that affects this program's chances of winning how?
Why should I care?

I project they were sitting on a projectile when they were projecting. I hope they were choking on their projectile vomiting.

We're in serious danger of this if anything happens to Kaaya or any of the starting OL. Just saying.

Also, don't forget asteroids and outbreak of deadly plagues.
That would affect our wins and losses too.

How many teams are one OL injury away from a total disaster? Because we are.

Actually quite a few teams would have problems if they lost a starter or two at OL.
Not sure what your point is.

Pretty sure he said disaster, not have problems.

not looking too good for my over 6 1/2

Want to sell your 6 1/2 over action?

What book had 6.5 on the over/under for total wins? Mine didnt have an option for Miami for regular season but had a total (including conference ships and bowl games) and miami was set at 8 even. Tie being a push.

Figuring we win the first 4 games... that leaves us with 9 games and only needing to win 4 to push (assuming we make a bowl and no conference championship). I don't see how that over doesn't hit unless BK goes down early in the season.

Semantics?
No such thing as a small problem on the OLine.
Any team is susceptible to problems, disaster, whatever you want to call it if they
start losing starters on the OL.

I do a college football pickem with my Miami buddies during the season and for bowls. I started feathering in advanced metrics as well as spreads and intuition. Advanced metrics are pretty solid for confidence intervals but only after the first several weeks of the season. Even the guys who run the numbers will tell you that predicting success off of prior year stats is grossly innacurate.
This.

Kaaya goes down and we are lucky to win 7
Quam and Grace get suspended for the season and our ceiling is 8 wins tops.

Just not enough depth on this team right now to make up for key injuries and suspensions.

No injuries ,no suspensions we win 9+

Projections are not a real world simulation where they factor in injuries, suspensions, and the like. This is straight up nonsense. Based on facts 7-5 should be the absolute floor. If things go haywire, then it gets worse.

I concur with your thoughts considering the first games on our schedule, not sure if and where Vern located 6.5 games. Perhaps he can share this opportunity or if he is not good with the bet I'll take his action.

Miami has a 91.5 percent chance to beat Florida Atlantic, but the next six weeks are much lower:

Appalachian State (34.2)
, Georgia Tech (27.8), Florida State (24.9), North Carolina (45.5), Virginia Tech (27.0) and Notre Dame (15.4). Miami finishes an FEI favorite against Pittsburgh (52.2), Virginia (54.5), North Carolina State (53.3) and Duke (62.4).

Soooooo….. Appalachian State > North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Virginia, North Carolina State and Duke
