If he had no intentions of leaving why not take that. The school was going to pay him more than everyone except a couple dudes that had already won MNC but the NFL was willing to pay him a lot more than that.

Where the real canes at that will call a spade a spade like @The Franchise and stop the **** duck tales. The only thing I hate worse than people who spin the narrative that Miami can't pay with the big boys (whether they chose to is a different story), is peeps who try to absolve Butch of any blame in why he left. Everyone's goal is to take care of themselves and their family and I can't hate on dude for taking the kings ransom that Cleveland was willing to pay him. But for the love of god stop trying to act like the school didn't want to pay Butch and that's why he left. This administration has ****ed up alot over the years but willingness to pay Butch...that ain't it.

Butch was an NFL guy, and we all knew he was going to bail especially with the $$ he was offered at that time.

Everyone with a brain or even a clue on the situation knew Butch was going back to the NFL and it wasn’t because Miami wouldn’t pay him people that were directly involved with the negotiations including Butch have said the money Miami was going to give him was never a problem but you can’t tell some of these dumdums on here different.

Yes, I would welcome that guy back to coach this disaster of a football program. I would even say that the current state of Miami is worse off now than it was in the mid 90's when he took over. Now we are in a vicious cycle. We started with Hiring Coker on the cheap, Shannon on the cheap, then Golden. Now we pay more money for cheap coaches.

I'm not piling on you for the comment because most people don't pay attention as to why Butch left.

He’s said it himself that the money Miami was offering him was acceptable. He was going to be the third highest paid college coach at the time that’s fact. His hangup was the **** buyout money which was going to be well above what any other college coach had to pay. Dude was definitely interested in the NFL that’s why he interviewed with the Texans and his agent was flirting with Washington and Cleveland behind the scenes. Nothing wrong with taking the opportunity in the league and the bag but just don’t act like Miami lowballed him money wise which isn’t true:
