We were, no fewer than 2 weeks ago, facing a reality that had Wario or Chud becoming our head coach. This was the world we were about to live in.

But now, we have the chance to get one of the most accomplished coaches in college football, and you're turning your chinstraps up at him like he's some common beggar in the streets? Now, I ask you - are you mad?

Richt has coached 2 Heisman winners in his career. He's got 34 players in the NFL right now, tied for 4th among all schools. Just look at this. Look at it!

15 full seasons at UGA
9 times he won 10+ games
Finished in the top 25 11 times
Finished in the top 10 8 times
9 bowl wins
6 Division titles
2 Conference titles
Averages 10 wins a season
His 74 percent winning percentage ranked fifth-highest among active FBS coaches, behind only Ohio State's Urban Meyer, Oklahoma's Bob Stoops, Alabama's Nick Saban and TCU's Gary Patterson.

Outside of getting a National Championship winning coach, you're not doing better than this. Richt is a killer in recruiting, too. He'd be coming to Miami where he'd get a weaker schedule and a stronger recruiting ground.

You should think twice about denigrating the man's name, lest you wake up with Greg Schiano's head in your bed. Mark Richt would be a great hire for Miami. You're giving a winning coach a much easier path and telling him to do it with access to better players. DA FUG YALL WANT?

fck it. im going to roll with any of the three (richt, mullen, butch)

Thank you OP! This is what I'm saying

It's not 2001 anymore. We haven't won 10 games in a decade and we have the chance to get a guy who averages ten wins and he sucks now? People are nuts

Better recruiting here and easier schedule. We would be favorites to win the Acc every year and be in bcs bowl games /playoff

He is the only choice. I hope he is interested

Mark Richt, Dan Mullen and Butch f@ck!ng Davis! Give me any of the 3 and let's roll. Ban everyone else in the forum from their opinions.

As I said in another thread -- the BBBeliebers are allowed to be disappointed that Butch isn't the guy; they aren't allowed to use bunk arguments to display that displeasure. Richt, objectively, is the FAR BETTER CANDIDATE when you look at results.

I'm okay with Butch

But I think a lot of people want it to be butch becuase they know deep down it won't be him. And that opens it up for complaints and calling for the new coaches head and saying "I told you we should have gotten butch" after our first loss

Last 10 years:

Never competed for a NC
0 Conference Titles
2 Division Titles
Average 3.8 losses per year

5-10 vs UF, the only team in his division with similar talent, 2-9 against coaches not named Will Muschamp

Has done less with more then any coach in America the last 10 years.

High floor, low (in a sense) ceiling. Not sure that is what I want.

The guy has been a perennial top 15 or better recruiter with 2 conference championships in 15 years to show for it. He will be FSU's *****, pretty much guaranteed. He builds teams talented enough to beat the majority of the teams he has played, but you don't get the reputation for an inability to win the big games for no reason.
Doesn't mean some of the other candidates won't continually get mauled by equal or better teams like Richt will, and we could do a lot worse than Richt, but I don't like it any more than a consolation. After looking an established track record in the face and ignoring it with Golden, I feel better about taking the devil I don't know, than the solid but disappointing one I do know.

I've said this so many times. Like literally there are like 6 active coaches with NC and one is Coker lol.

We just got done with the Golden regime...preceded by Radio...preceded by Clappy.

The three finalists last time were Golden...Edsall...and Trestman.

Right now we are talking about Richt, Mullen, and Butch. To be honest we should all be doing jumpflips right now.

I don't think miami can go wrong if it selects Davis or Richt. My one concern would be money for coordinator positions. Richt will probably pull a higher salary than David a would. So that being said, would he have enough available to pull some solid coordinators??? Sure miami is saying $$$ is not an issue but they're still paying Al to go away as well.

I think with Ricth, worst case scenario is we win 10 games on average throughout his tenure and he sets the job up to look good again and has much needed stability brought back to the program and opens it up to where the next time we're searching for a coach, we're only looking for that guy that wants to come here and take us over the hump to a national title.

With Richt, I definitely believe we will be in the ACC championship game multiple times under him which means we likely get some and have a chance at the playoffs. All we have been missing is being well coached and having a good defense. Our offense isn't great, but has not completely killed us. Richt can fix all of that and more. Georgia is a nice place for recruiting, but it's still not South Florida. Richt is looking to be more hands on again and was just fired. I'd expect a hungrier Richt that resembles the man from his first 5 years at UGA and with that, in the Coastal, with our talent, I don't see how we don't get 10-11 wins nearly every year with him.
