I need the OL to be elite
 
I would say 12 is a more realistic number but good convo. However keeping to 16 I’d say the following:

4 Elite: WR, WR, DE, CB
4 very good: MLB, RB, S, T
4 solid: DT, DE, QB, CB/S
4 Depth: WR, S, OL, RB

QB was hardest. If all return could argue it’s not needed from roster management spot.

A lot of good players have already went in and the portal isn’t even officially open.

Last year we had:

WR - J Addison
WR - R Pearsal
WR - J Burton
WR - T Harrel
QB - Quin Ewers
QB - Caleb Williams
RB - Trey Benson
RB - H Parrish
CB - Elias Ricks
OL - Tyler steene

Among others and we’ve already heard from several insiders on this board to expect ALOT of movement…

It will all depend on what coaches leave different schools and what coaches leave here/join here

Depends on the system we’re going to run. Especially on offense. A good system will get elite production from a serviceable player. See: C Rambo 2021.

If we’re sticking with Gattis or some other power rushing bum who thinks it’s 1987, then use all your elite, very good and solid choices on offensive linemen. That’s your only chance of not being terrible

Most of those top guys already knew where they were going when they went into the portal.

And we have heard about a lot of movement out. In… not so much.

Rambo gave Miami elite production but he was an afterthought as a transfer. He was a guy who had a nice sophomore year at Oklahoma but lost his job as a junior to a freshman.

His junior year: 25 catches, 312 yards, 3 touchdowns. Very ho-hum numbers
 
The 2023 portal looks rather weak . Took me a long time to pick out 4:

Travion Brown LB
Anthonie Cooper Edge

Kavosiey Smoke RB​

Chris Lewis WR​

I say you're on crack if you think we don't need a complete overhaul on the OLine. We can have the best QB, RB, TEs, and WRs in the nation and it wouldn't matter with our O Line. If you want offense to work in any system, it starts up front.
 
CB should be elite, you can rag on Ivey as much as you want but we lost both starters back there.

Nice thread! If I could choose, I’d prefer to focus on what I believe are the weakest part of the team (unfortunately we had a lot).

4 Elite - MLB, DL, DE, WR
4 Very Good - OL, DB, OLB, WR
4 Solid - CB, OL, RB, S
4 Depth - S, CB, DE, S
