While I have no love for Golden, Kirkland was playing clown games. Barrow pulled his card real quick if I remember correctly, as he should have.

Matthew Thomas who went to FSU instead. That was a monumental fck up by Golden and crew. Kirkland was good enough in his own right to warrant a Miami offer without being attached to a higher-end prospect.

It was Coley apparently who did that. Both Miami and FSU were recruiting the kid, once Coley was hired to the staff, apparently he told Golden that Kirkland was all set on going to FSU. Regardless of the story, Golden should've let it play out that Kirkland was dead set on going somewhere else and that he had a legit offer to Miami. Now, it's just one of many gaffs on the trail while he was here.

Sounds to me like no one actually knows what happened behind the scenes, including Mongo.

There were at least four versions of what happened going around.

It’s safe to say that it was some type of recruiting fūckup by Golden, I have no problem believing that, though. It can also be true that both recruits were playing games and neither was planning to go to UM anyway.

Guys, this is an Al Golden apologist troll who's been band numerous times. It's never Al Golden the coach's fault that the players he coached weren't any good. It's the bum *** players that made Golden look bad.

If he gets to hang around long enough this time, he's going to tell you all about how Donna Shalala isn't really responsible for the downfall of the Miami Football program, and that Nevin Shapiro was actually a solid investment banker on the up and up when he was railroaded by some disgruntled clients.

I would happily blame Al Golden if you had any evidence that he failed to use Anthony Chickillo's abilities and it's his fault that he had a mediocre career.

But Anthony Chickillo has been just as mediocre and just as a slow and just a as plodding playing in a different system for different coaches.

See, I actually demand proof for things.
