And they have the #1 total defense in the nation, and the #3 scoring defense in the nation. And they are doing it with the old regimes players, who were recruited for a 4-3.
Why is it that those coaches could come into that program, who never recruits anyone worth crap, and completely change the scheme to a 3-4 and by the second year have arguably the best defense in all of football? Yet our coaches in year 4 feature the 15th total defense and 32nd scoring defenses with a half dozen blue chip recruits.
I've said it a million times, especially in todays game: recruiting ability of the head coach and the coordinators is the most overrated thing on earth. Great coaches can get their program humming their way by the second year. It doesn't take 5 recruiting classes to go from a 4-3 to an elite 3-4 defense. Wisconsin proved it.
Our offense is #43 in total O, and #47 in scoring O, with one of the best players in all of football, and elite QB, an NFL TE, NFL wideouts, and an NFL left tackle. In year two of Coley's system. Is it unreasonable to expect that we have at least a top 25 offense in year two?
