Yeah our defense was horrible...NOT

That's one game.
The whole team stunk.

Let's take the rushing stats vs LSU.
We held them to 3.8 ypc.

Man, once they got rolling, Bama's D didn't scare them either.

Speaking of Bama, you think the great defenses of Bama and Clemson are going to give up 40 or so again in the Natty?
Probably not, because the effectiveness of the offense will help the defense--better field position, less time the defense is on the field, take opponent out of regular offense and force them to pass more. I keep saying--suppose our offense goes up early. It might force Wisconsin out of the run game and make them rely more on Coan's arm.

Wisconsin running it down our throat first series of the game is on the offense?
BC runnig it down our throat fist two drives of the game is on the offense?
GT scoring on their first drive of the game AFTER we went up 7-0 is on the offense?
LSU 20 at half
BC 17 at half
Wisconsin 35 points, 300+ rushing
GT 27 points

Sorry we didnt face FIU every game

Against these "elite" offenses the defense gave up 29.25 PPG

You've got to be kidding me. Now no one cn even score for this defense to be great?

Take a real look at LSU score and how they got their points.

1 pick six
1 FG on a FIVE yard drive
1 FG on a 22 yard drive

BC

1 TD on a 14 yard drive
1 FG on a 9 yard drive

FSU

1 FG on an 18 yard drive
1 TD on a 36 yard drive
1 TD on a pick six

GT

1 FG on 18 yard drive
1 FG on a 4 yard drive
1 TD on a 23 yard drive

This defense was put in a **** position this entire year. Just about every single game followed this kind of pattern.

Your cherry picking is dumb and completely uninformed.

You sound stupid.

Well if the Defense wasnt giving up 333 yards and 7 yds per carry to a team that is playing a backup QB. Mind you they did this last year to dIAZ D. You can blame the O all you want but its the same pattern that he had at UT/MSU. Beat up on shltty teams and make the stats look good.

Wisky ran for 5.7 ypc, even when you take out the qb sack.
Only Bama and Clemson can lose an all american DT and be minimally affected by it.
If you didn't catch it, Dan O pointed out early that they were running right at the DT position.

All teams have good stats vs ****** teams.
Our D is very good.
Top-5?
Top-7 no-question.

If you disagree, name the defenses better than Miami assuming Bama and Clemson are 1 and 1b.
Mississippi State is pretty good.
Michigan was exposed vs OSU and uF. No one has put up 40+ vs Diaz here.
Washington?
Georgia?
Michigan State? Good run D, Bad pass D.

Arguably 5-7?
I'll take it.

Under Diaz, Miami has allowed 4.6 yards per play - among all other Football Bowl Subdivision schools, only Alabama (4.2), Clemson (4.4), Michigan (4.4) and Washington (4.55) have allowed less in that three-year span.

By this measure, the D is in elite company the last 3 years. I know ultimately points, not yards per play, determine wins and losses. But they are highly correlated. And looking at only points allowed doesn't factor in the negative turnover ratio this year and the crappy field position given up by special teams.

Clemson lost the best DT and gave up 2.5 yards to a better Offense

Nobody has put up 40 cause we dont play anyone. If we played OSU we would give up 50+

Gave up 27 to BC(who ran right through the D) who scored 13 against Purdue

You didn't read my post:

I agree that the teams we played were mediocre offensively, but did you know we held those teams to an average of 100 yards less than their season average.
Who else can say that?

You also didn't answer my question as to what teams are better than Miami defensively.
I gave you 2 no-brainers in Clemson and Bama, and 5 others. A few of those arguable.

Again, I ask you, If you're so down on Diaz D's, surely there are many more that are better.
Who are they?

Remember to cherry pick the worst games of all the defenses you're about to list.

I think you throw out the Wisconsin results, as I believe the team had been lost and wasn't in a good place mentally. I'm pretty sure everyone was tired of seeing the same old offensive ineptitude and it ground the whole team down.

Willis "may" have hurt the interior D a bit.

The stats I stated were relative to the opposing teams season average, so it does apply.
If a team averages 350 yards per game verses everyone else and we hold them to 250 yards, that's very good.
That's our average against all of the 10 p5 teams we played this season.

So you named 1 more team than I did?
That puts Miami, in your opinion, at #8.
The 8th best defense in the country.
Not bad from a guy who doesn't think Diaz' D's are any good.

Thanks
