XFL starts tomorrow...

If true, that the NFL is embracing them as a minor league, and I see ESPN is clearly backing them.

Under Armor, is supporting due to its relationship with the Rock.

They may have a chance. I could see this going past 3 seasons.

They’ve got to get these offenses to start scoring. Which I think they should offer QBs more then the normal salary, and go get up and coming hungry younger coaches from college, like mentioned above.

It’s the Rock, everyone loves the guy.. people are going to want to support and see him win. So I’m giving it a strong chance to last for a while.

I would imagine that NFL practice squads would be more entertaining, they should have done that like the NBA summer league.
I agree, this is the right idea. Would give them a pool of ~600 decent quality players who can supplement their income. Also would give them direct ties to the NFL as a developmental league. Guessing someone thought of that and NFL is probably not willing to allow it.

Another potential niche is the rule and safety experimentation. That has some value to the NFL. The kickoff play is good. Would be interesting to see XFL experiment with equipment and other things to reduce injuries, but would probably need NFL funds for that.

I was going to add that. They re-hash these washed NFL coaches and those guys are just doing the same crap they failed at in the NFL
Yup thats what it is or just some NFL "NAME" AS A COACH. Bill Cowher or some dumb sh*t...i see Hines Ward and Terell Buckley.

If they can get pass 2 years i believe they may have staying power as a development league though...the nfl europe was around for awhile before nfl gave up on it. But there are ample end of roster guys that didnt make last cuts or practice squad fodder on these teams...i mean Carolina got a 2nd string caliber qb from these leagues and i know dallas got their pr/kr, etc..there were a number of guys that made teams str8 off of last years league

Rambo was open on half the snaps I queued in on him. He doesn’t get significant separation because he’s getting both pressed and covered but he’s got great timing with his routes. Unfortunately his QBs were atrocious. And he was rarely allowed to run long or long developing routes.

jacques patrick with as much intensity and strength as my 93 year old grandmother

The USFL is the better of these types of leagues.

But the funnest one was the AAF in 2019, that league had legitimate QB play, good coaching & compelling matchups.

Too bad they went bankrupt in just 2 months lol

Watching the game now. League needs to be prepared to lose money for a couple of seasons. I think if it gets to Season 3 they will good for the long haul.
I doubt we see a season 3..... By Mid-point this season the stands will be empty and it will look terrible on tv as it has years past.... Last nights game by the 4th quarter the stands were empty.... not a good look...

They dont TRY to make the offenses....these leagues are coached by former NFL coaches every time so it IS nfl offenses they coached. They always go with those names...but if they went with exciting College guys with different schemes you would see better play.
Maybe Ed Reed could...... Ok I'll stop.... my bad... LOL!!!!!!!!!!

AJ MCcarron sucked all game then poured it on with a come back win. Loved the use of 4th and 15 from the 25 yard line in lieu of an onside kick. Helluva drive.
